And slowly, it's getting done: Thanks to Jimmy (modelnut) for the exhaust, the peace sign and the antenna!! I was re-inspired to get this one done!! Now the task is to finish it: BMF, finish the tires, add the smaller parts and throw on some gloss!! Thanks for the help, Jimmy!! RSS

Looks great so far! Big difference before and after! I, not up to speed on the Deals Wheels stuff yet I just have the 57 Chev old school kit right now. Is this one that your are restoring the same as the Van reissue in the old school series or a different one? Back in the 70's I had both of the 57's in the series but no others. Again that looks great, can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks for the kind words, Mike and AJ!! It is an original 1970 version complete with its box. It has the "bunny" tires! I bought it for $25 the way she stood! Crazy! Right before the re-issues were announced! Timing is everything!
I made replacement side mirrors and have to add those.
I have one or two of each of the re-issued Deal's Wheels cars and planes that came out and am dying to get the rest of them!! I have a Stink Tank that really needs parts! Missed the one on evilBay as it went up to $80!! Even I have a limit as to how much I'll pay. I can gather the pieces here and there like you guys often do. Again, I have to thank Jimmy (modelnut) for coming through on the exhaust!
Take care!

Thanks, Guys, for all the kind words! I really appreciate them. This one and a 51 Fleetline are the closest I have been to finishing a kit in years. I keep getting bogged down in the details of the build. Like the 51, I am stuck on the engine with the wires and all. I even cut new "glass" for it out of CD cases since I hate the bulkiness of the stock windows. And I am using BMF that is 10 years old! But the BMF works fine! No issues with no sticking or anything bad.
I love building but they never get done before I open a new one! I have been good though. The 51 was the last kit I opened and that was from last October. So, my sickness may have an end. HAHAHAHA!! But there are tons of open and half started in my basement. I may have to actually "resurrect" some of those soon!
Thanks again, guys, for all the kind words and inspiration (for instance, your builds). That was the prime reason I joined up here! And apparently, the visual therapy works!!
