This is my second Rommel's kit bash, I am sooo thankful for the re-pops! This is the Snowdown.... A drag rig from the frozen Tundra complete with a racing snowmobile for the asphalt drag strip in Juneau. ;D I added the body of a Sand Shark and lopped off the front end. I stretched the fame to accommodate the Allison and added the front skis from a Sno-Sport dragster. I made a trailer hitch and put a trailer on skis to haul the matching sno-mobile. The sled is now 327 powered on the Undertaker chassis with the supercharger tubes running through the headlight opening.

I have to post this one, or I will get in big trouble... My middle boy Cavan is 7 years old, and is my little garage helper. He stays by my side and asks a thousand questions after the others have wandered off. Since I have been spending a lot of time building the contest entries, he was right there, too. He's built a few from the box, and I usually give them stuff to hack on. He started this VW, and the more we worked together, the more he wanted to be in the contest. I got the body off a VW site. Somebody had grafted the panel section on the back, but it was warped and stuff. I decided not to build it, and gave it to the kids. It's been taped on, colored with Sharpies, and sanded. I figured he wouldn't finish it, but he kept plugging away and asking for more parts box scraps. I told him how to make windows from clear plastic, and he did, he even made the driver's window "rolled down." It has TJ Taxi wheels, Fast Buck axles, a '33 Willys frame, a blown Chevy big block, a butterfly steering wheel, bucket seats, and ladder bars. I finally let him use a paint pen and that's what he painted it with... right over the layers of Sharpie marker. Now he has his own sand paper, emery boards, snips, and part stash... at 7 years old, he's off to a great start.

here's my entry #3...kitbash. I don't have a name for this one. This is a fresh build just for this contest. ok, this is an 1/8 scale bike that i got from Brandon. It was a glue bomb, and according to brandon, was originally built in the 60's sometime. It started life as a Honda 750 cafe racer. The frame has been severly chopped in the front and i'm not sure where the long chopper forks came from. I re-worked the frame and molded all of the joints together. I scratch built the frame in the rear, from the seat back, and scratch built the swing arm and rear axle holders. the engine is the one that came with it. I tore it all apart, stripped all the chrome and removed all of the glue. the case, transmission, carbs and head got painted with Krylon "satin nickel" and i painted the cylinders semi gloss black. added spark plugs and plug wires. The velocity stacks are painted with polished aluminum metallizer paint. I added fuel lines, throttle cables, clutch cable, tachometer cable aand a brake line. I made the pipes out of the ends of some plastic coat hangers, and i drilled the ends of them out. The nitrous bottle is a fire extingusher from a 1:18 muscle machine, i made the NOS decal and the knob on the bottle came from my parts box. I ran a line from the nitrous bottle to an injection rail on the separate intake manifolds that i scratch built. the handle bars are made from a stright peice of chrome rod from the front forks of a shaker trike. the hand grips and clutch lever came from my stash of junk 1/8 motorcycle parts. The chain and sprockets also came from my 1/8 stash, but i had to peice the chain together using other 1/8 bike chains to make it long enough. there is a single disk brake and caliper mounted on the engine sprocket rather than on the rear wheel...and no front brakes. The back tire is from an evil iron, and the back rim is 2 evil iron rims back to back. I had to narrow the outer rings and the rims to make one wheel that was not too wide for the tire. the rear axle is a straight peice of chrome plastic rod, and the wheelie bars came from the shaker trike. I have no idea where the iron cross tail light came from, and the twin headlights are from a chuck wagon. paint on the frame is a black base color, with Boyds purple over it and clear coated. I painted the gas tank, oil tank and seat pod, plain white, and then a coat of clear pearl, followed by a couple of coats of clear laquer. the foot rests are from the shaker trike, foot shifter and brake pedal/master cylinder is from a trike kit of some kind. The tachometer also came from my parts box. I had to re-shape the front of the seat to fit around the gas tank and slide it forward so that the seat pod would not rub on the rear tire. this thing is huge, including the wheelie bars, it is 15 1/2 inches long! I painted it to match my schwinn stingray bike. Hope you like it.

Entry number two is the "Veloci-Tee", a Kit-twist based on an Ebay gluebomb "Ice-T". I wanted to try and use as much of the "Ice-T" as I could, but also loose as much of the look at the same time... Parts used beyond the "Ice-T" would be the front axel and radious rods, which were salvaged from an Ebay Gluebomb "Beerwagon". I kept Big Block Chevy power, but switched out the motor with one from a Revel ProStreet Chevelle. The engine cover is the "Ice-T" unit, turned backwards. Other assorted nick nacks were parts box salvage. Lastly, a 20 plus year old fuel tank, originally made for my Nash Metro, but it was too big, so I just kept it around. It now has a home. Scratch built the shifter and found an old photo-etch gauge pack. All 'chrome' other than the "Slammers Rambler' wheels is Alclad, my first effort with the stuff. The body is still mostly "Ice-T". The rear turtle deck is made from the roof, cut off and down, then spun around! The seat is also "Ice-T". Paint is Duplicolor rattle can red. See the under construction thread here... coffincorner.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wip&action=display&thread=10435

Here's my 'did Not Finish' entry... The "Better Deal". Plan is a FULL detail job, all lines and wires, seat belts, etc., etc., etc. The injector scoop is 100% made from scratch. The blower, Butterfly steering wheel and wheelie bars are from the "S'Cool Bus". Rear tires are Deals Wheels/Funster pieces that were spun to shape with plotter cut "Good Boot" transfers. Fronts are airplane wheels with O-ring tires... Check out the insanely small penny! Pretty much everything left to add will be scratch built. The headers, radious rods, shocks and other whatnotties, paint/graphics/name (It is a funny car after all) are still way up in the air, but there's enough here now to share!

;D Okay, here we go . . . . This is a kit-bash, the frame is scratch built, the body and the lights are from the Raiders Coach, the rear axle is from the boot hill and one of the skeletons, the other two are from the L'il Coffin, the barrel(thanks Bill), keg, injector stacks and the front axle are from the Beer Wagon, the engine is from the AMT '70 Impala, the radiator is from the Monogram T rod(thanks again Bill), the cow skull is from the Bad Medicine, then a lot of other parts box stuff, wires, glue and styrene. It was fun,and I don't have to wait on a re-pop or some rip-off price on Evil-bay! ;D Thank You all for having this, Thank You all for looking, Thank You all for sharing! Later Russ

I built this for April 1st posting day at Spotlight board, but I feel it probably belongs more here. This is a boxstock Palmer Chaparral (sic) with replacement headers and tailights due to original gluebombing and/or flashy-trashy orgiinal Palmer parts. It does have a show rod look though! PS: I love everyone else's pics, it may be time for me to hop off of the box stock bandwagon for awhile!

First, thanks to Tim and Brandon on this contest! I was going to get around to building something soon, and when Tim came up with this it inspired me (set my ass on fire) to do something this go round. I thought about what I might like to build, and I settled on a project I had in mind for awhile, figured I might as well do it for this. "This" is a restoration project of a box stock build. I have MIB kits of this, but I didn't want to build them. I had two incomplete gluebombs I bought years ago, and I figured I should be able to get one decent kit out of them. This is the box art for those who may not be very familiar with it. In fact, that's one of the reasons I chose this subject, because we don't see very many of these show up here. I can only think of one, built by Kim. I stuck them in the freezer and broke them up. I used the best parts from each kit, plus a couple of chrome parts I got from Brian (sundance). I took off gobs of glue, filled, sanded, prepped, polished, and otherwise did the best I could to get the parts ready for building. The decals were old and cracked; I was going to scan a set and print them on new decal paper, found out my scanner/printer wasn't working! So I ended up covering them with decal film and applying them with enough solvaset to get them to lay down. The worst parts were the headlight assemblies. I sanded the housings down, used alclad, then went to work with the dremel to do what could for the lenses. After all that, I decided that they didn't look as good as the rest of the build, so at the last minute decided to go with similar size fresh headlights from my parts boxes. Since I was doing that, I did the same for the lanterns. Finally, even though the pool ball wheel "caps" came out OK nicely painted, I decided not to use them because, frankly, I always thought they looked stupid and ruined the look of the wheels. I went with the colors in the box art or instruction sheet. Paint is Boyd Smoothster Yellow over Kustom Kolors silver base. So, except for a couple of substitute parts, pretty much a box stock build. Thanks to my buddy Paulie (modelcitizen) for the constant nagging (er, ah, gentle prodding! Ya!) of Git 'er done! Git 'er DONE!!! Without his inspiration I might not have finished. I almost threw it against the wall after I accidentally broke the frame! Sorry for being so long winded! Maybe it's not great, but I think it's presentable, so I'm happy enough with it.
