When my big project ( an Orbital Interceptor from 1959, mounted on its carrier vehicle) started giving me fits, I took a break and worked on this. It's an old Lindy Loonies kit of the Scuttle Bucket, now reissued as part of Hawk's Weird-Ohs series. (I bought mine directly from the Hawk website.) Everything fit together pretty well, especially for as old as the mold is. The wheels and tires were molded as one piece, and I just couldn't see trying to paint them so they looked halfway decent , so I dug some old aftermarket floatplane floats out of the stash and now it's a redneck swamp cruiser. ;D Paint is my usual oils-over-enamels; the base is drywall mud and a lot of acrylic gloss medium. Enough verbiage, on to the pics: More pics in this album: s193.photobucket.com/albums/z256/hilbyf/Scuttle%20Bucket/

How did ya do the clear waves? Ellis Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments! I made the clear waves by cutting two roughly triangular pieces of clear styrene sheet, then gluing them to the base at a bit of an angle. The wave shape was built up in stages using acrylic gloss medium, a thick white Emer's glue-like goop that dries very clear. The water greens were painted using oils after the first layer of medium, then covered by more layers of medium. The last thing to do was a little white on the foamy parts, then a coat of Future to (hopefully) protect the whole thing. (Geez, it sounds a lot more complicated than it was!) The propellor "spin" is a piece of plastic fiber optic from an old lamp kit, shaped by wrapping it around a coarse-thread bolt, securing the ends with some soft wire, and dropping it into a pan of boiling water. I thought it looked appropriately cartoony ;D

Scuttle Bucket and the rest of the crew can be found at this link .. it was kind of hard to find .. you can order them direct www.weird-ohs.com/wemoki.html For those of you playing at home, the four are: Scuttle Bucket (coal scuttle-based) Big Wheeler (guy in wheelbarrow) Road Hog (overweight fellow in overloaded car) Satan's Crate (a very charming devil!) $18 each, discount on all four. Worth the money! Satan's Crate had been reissued a couple years a go in a very limited edition by Kitbuilder's magazine, and that's the version I have. Satan is very handsome (in a Weird-Ohs sort of way ).
