Saw Kmart had put out two new Revell Funny car kits yesterday ($19.98 each, ouch!). The Chi-Town Hustler and Hawaiian. I thought these were reissues of the 70's Funny Car kits but, when looking at the side panels, the chassis's on both cars look like nothing I've seen in plastic before. At first glance, they looked a little like the Snake & Mongoose chassis, but they aren't. While there may be some shared parts between them, the two chassis were completely different configuations. Are these all new tools?

Chi-Town is all new but maybe the tires and is fantastic. The other two kits are a mix of new tool and retooled parts and are nice too. MSRP is $25 so 20 is not too bad....but less than that elsewhere.

I have the Chi-Town Hustler kit and it is worth the money! Okay, I may be a little biased since I showed the car and drove it when I was in college but it is very well done. If you search the web, there is a full kit review somewhere with a few building hints.

Next up is the Jungle Jim Vega f/c (sometime in June or July, I've read), but don't know how much (or any) of it will be new or if its a reissue. Its great to see funny cars back on the store shelves again!!

I rarely have the money these days to buy the new kits coming out, but ( luckily ) one day I was at the Fred Myers store looking around, and found all three of these kits $12 dollars each ! ! ! ... I almost couldn't believe my eyes ! There was just no way I could not buy these at that price. I already wanted them real bad anyway, but I had accepted that it was gonna be something outta my reach. I was soooo happy to get these, I think these type kits are great, kinda another "flashback" to the old days. I realize that "Fred Myers" store may not be in other parts of the country, but if you guy's have one in your town, it's worth checking out. They also have other kits, but not a great selection. .... no tomatoes please. -AL
