I've got maybe some good news for you on this kit. This one appears to be an original Monogram '55 Chevy from the 60's. The good news is that this kit was used to create the Badman 55. Not that you will be able to get the exact parts that you need to complete it but if you wanted to get it together, you could use a donor Badman and create a hybrid of the two. There are a lot of pieces to an original 55 Chevy from Monogram and not many of them got carried through since the Badman was such a drastic change. I have yet to compare and break down this kit to the Badman but like I said, it wouldn't have a whole lot of overlap anyway.

Hey Don, I had a conversation about these issues of the kit with several other members awhile back. We believe that it is a different casting totally than the original Monogram convertible. If I remember one of the people I talked with looked and compared but I still can't confirm it myself. The main difference is that the original was 1/24th scale and this issue is 1/25th scale. I'm still very curious about it as it looks so much like the original issue.

hmm.. I thought the original Monogram flatbox 55's were molded in red or turquoise . this one appears to have been molded in white with portions being painted red...

yup or the other way around, it's hard to say. Yep good point.. I would say that if they sprayed white over red it sure did cover well with no bleed through...that's what made me think they painted the red.. But now i believe i see a tape line

You can see the white overspray in the picture that doesn't show the interior Chuck. It's a red one.
Don, like I had mentioned, I'm not sure but I don't believe it is the same casting. Almost all of the original Monogram kits were 1/24th scale. The only way that one would be the same is if they messed up the scale on the box. But somebody had compared the kits in the past and I'd like to do so myself I just won't buy the reissue to do it since I have several of the original.

The original '55 Chevy Convertible was definetly a Flat Box and the ones I had were molded in red. And I think they might have done them in turquoise also. Yep starry I think the turquoise was the same color they used on the original '40 Ford pickup.
