After reading and being totally amazed by the KoolWheelz thread I remembered back in the '60's(67?) I cut up my Car Model Magazines to make the slot car cut outs they had on the covers. My favorite has always been the Dr. Fate car: As you can see time has not been kind to the 40+ year old glue, Elmers white glue if I remember. I remember I put the Chrome Hot Rod wheels and tires on Dr. Fate, they looked better then then small wheels and tires. Here are the others I made. I know I am missing the Land speed Rocket car and the Drag Strip accessories. Not sure if there are others. I'll have to spend a few hours digging through my CM collection. Can you guess what I want to try with the KoolWheelz paper cars? ;D Marty Marysville, OH

Those are cool. I just now started picking up some old Car Model magazines, and was surprised to see the paper models on the covers of some of the late 1960s issues. Hadn't seen "the collection" yet ... but someone there had great taste; including Professor Fate's!

awesome!!! but I'm a little confused? are you saying you just cut these models from some old car mags? or these are models you actually made 40 years ago?...and you still have them?
which is more awesome? the vintage paper hot rods...or the fact that they have survived?!
I would really love to see the original mags. any chance of details on them?

I would really love to see the original mags. any chance of details on them? Yes, you cut up your magazine cover to make them! The instructions say to cut the whole cover off, fold it in half and glue it together making the paper twice as thick. Ask my wife, there is very little I get rid of. She keeps threatening to contact hoarders and report me. ;D Marty Marysville, OH

Those are all too awesome! I had only seen a couple of them (in ready to cut-and-paste form, I mean) prior to this. Great "thinking outside the box" idea; good subjects chosen; and just a lot of fun, all in all. They done did real good! Thanks much for posting all those cool covers.
