he is not so much into computers and so I ask for him
Is there a website existing with the factory color options ? a place where to get more or less an idea what was possible
thanks

Not an easy thing to Google Markus, maybe a Chevy dealer might be your best bet.

There should be some Duplicolor paint references available at your local auto supply store, or you can check out paint samples at a paint jobber. Would think the guy would have an idea of what general color he's looking for? A good reference is factory sales literature for the interior details, will also show exterior colors and combinations, options as well. Lots of folks sell these online and at shows, PJ's auto literature is one source.

... thats the biggest problem ... here in Europe this car never was imported by an oficial dealer ... at that time chevy dealers didnt exist here ... just the GM-division Opel existed ... Chevrolet now exists here as an additional brand at the opel dealers ... with the renewed former Daewoo cars ... and finally with few real chevrolets ... but they have more or less no idea what happened three decades ago ...
thats why I thought that asking here might be a good idea ... most members here do live in the US ... with a much higher probability to get this information

Maybe a real color chart is not so important ... the computer screens are not so reliable with colors just the color names and possible combinations might be enough .. and with the names its possible to find the correct Duplicolor colors
I think what he really wants is to build something that looks more or less like a car in 77 ... not a combination that never existed ... if the color itself is on the model slighty darker or lighter is not the problem .. noone will ever notice that ... before he can ask for a certain color its more important to know what colors existed ... then decide how he would like to paint ...then ask for the color code

I think the best way would be to get your friend on your computer, type in 1977 Monte Carlo and hit images. That was a very popular car , and there should be hundreds of pictures, including some from the sales brochures. We used to race these cars at a local track back in the mid 1980's and I can tell you there were many interior /exterior combinations available. I would imagine there was at least 12 -14 different colors for the body, cloth and leather interiors, vinyl roofs etc . We tore up a bunch of these cars and I don't think there were two that were identical.

Well I know met red was one factory color. This is a model of a HS buddy car. You should be able to find a color chart online.

I think these things should fix you right up:
literature on ebay now, lots of these 77 Monte Carlo brochures available, last one listed is from the UK and seems to be a bit different, not expensive
380284743573
320054314904
360336101285
350460644293
Here's a paint chip brochure for Chevy 77 colors, you can match against this directly, again not bad, $6
