This is definitely a build out of my realm, I have to build it the way it's supposed to be built. It's also a kit I would probably never consider building, not a bad thing, we all have different tastes and ideas. This is a build for Baronigor (Dale). We'll start with the supplied Ross Gibson engine. Some primer, a little filler and some bracketry (is that a word?) for the alternator. I'm sure it's not accurate, but it should look OK when it's done. I'm going off the paint designations from the kit's instructions, it calls for an Ivory block with Blue valve covers and aircleaner. We hit our first hurdle, the hood won't clear the aircleaners. I'll have to either make a new one/set or see if I can drop the engine.

I'm having a hard time staying motivated on any models for the last week or so. I had no work to do today, so I forced myself to do something. I started to paint the chassis, I want it to look showrod, not used, so it will be all fresh paint. I'm using flat, satin and gloss black for the underneath. So far it's just satin and flat, the gloss will be the suspension and drivetrain parts. I need to do a little touch up where the silver bled on the mufflers, and paint the pipes a darker silver.

While the suspension pieces are drying, I moved onto modifying the back seat for the subs. I had to sand the subs down to fit between the pleated sections. Then I cut some templates for the placement and a guide to cut. After the initial cut, it was sanded and filed for a good fit and to round over the edges. With the subs in place.

I made some speaker pods for the front door panels. The front suspension is in, the rear just needs the paint on the shocks to dry so they can go in along with the panhard bar. The engine is pinned in place and making progress. Unfortunately there is no room for the aircleaners.

To cut the trunk out, you need to cut through the taillight surrounds, then once the trunk is off, I cut the surround pieces off of the trunk and reglued them to the body. I had to add to the back of the trunk to straighten out my cuts. With a spare tire in place and the start of the floor, it's looking pretty cool.

I'm surprised how little filler will be needed to get it back into shape. Round one, before sanding.

In prime, I had some reservations taking on a build of a car I had no interest in. I'm very glad I did though, I'm really starting to like the look of this car. I wouldn't build it as Elvira's car, but I will definitely build this model some where down the road.

The inside of the trunk is almost done being roughed in. I need access to the taillight panels for final assembly, so the backs won't go in until much later.

The hinge is done, I drilled out some 040 square stock for the wire to slide into and glued them to the bottom of the trunklid. It lines up great and opens and closes without a hitch. A little detail sanding and I'm ready for paint.

I was asked to put studs on the dashboard, if I replicated the ones from the actual car, you would barely see them. I decided to oversize them a bit so you could readily see what they are. I drilled holes in the dash, then cut the tips from toothpics and superglued them into the holes. The superglue soaked into the wood and glued them in place Once the glue cured, I sanded the spikes down and back to a point.

OK, so the spikes on the dash had to go. Let's try again. Drill some holes and cut some rod. Glue them in. Sand it down. Paint. Detail.

The interior is coming along, I got the decal solutions yesterday and was able to make some progress. The subwoofers are drying and tomorrow I hope to get the embossing powder done and the console painted.

The subs are in, I made pins to mount the seats and I'm getting ready to do the carpeting. I threw it together real quick to see how it looks and to get an idea of what needs the embossing powder. I have to admit, the further I get on this build, the more I like this model and want to build one for myself now.

I need some advice.
I think the leopard print part of the seats would benefit from a wash. The seats are pleated and the print hides all of the detail.
The seats are cleared with Microscale's Micro Flat. Could I use acrylic thinned with water or alcohol?

A Grim Reaper for the dash. I cut out a silhouette of him from a business card, soaked in crazy glue, dipped in baking soda, carved the shape with an X-acto and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat. The sickle is Evergreen rod and sheet. With some paint,
