"Bucket List"... "Paint Bucket"... Seems I had another clever name for this idea a while back, but dang it escapes me now... The one thing I haven't seen a Showrod yet is a good old fashoned Bucket Truck, till now! That's a simple gravity (pile) mock up for now but, that boom will extend over 14" straight up! I'm not sure If I want a "basket" or " Bucket" yet. It will depend on what I find that looks good. Also not sure what's going to be a power plant ether... Just an early idea that looked too cool not to share! Got a clever name? I'm open.

I like where your going with this, looks cool, wheels are just what it needs. I like the idea of a basket myself, kinda sign installer rod.

Looks great so far! With such an impressive boom, why not "Boomerwagon" or "Hot Boomer". "li'l snubnose" is another good one....

Thanks all! Here it is with the boom fully extended. I was wrong, it's about 16" tall... A custom sign shop show truck was just what I had in mind. Thinking about some little plaquards that read, [shadow=red,left,300] Vye Agrass [/shadow] Signs & Erection. "We''ll get it up!"I've flipped the boom around so it's closer to the cab now. More shots when there's something of a frame under there... Now, what and where can I stuff a motor?

Hang the motor out back of the rear axle like a VW. In fact, you could use two VW engines, coupled together; that'd get you up to about 54 rompin' stompin' horsepower...

Here's the front end taking shape.... And a scratch built bucket... Little more over all... Found an old silver paint bomb Porsche six that fits kinda nice... That'd be different!

Tried and liked this alternate boom location... I didn't really relocate anything, just turned it, but I like it. Now that the general shape is established, I'll start fine tuning it some. That will include power plant options and locations... How's "the Erector Rod" sound?

Another Up-date... Power plant, planted! It's a V-6 Chevy, made from a chopped down Z/28 motor, with abbaby blower made from a chopped down double supercharger system (P/S T-bird). I still need to make the headers that will exit through the fender bumps... Oh, did I mention switching the fenders? I didn't? Well, I did. What's not shown is the transfer case that sends power back to the offset Quickchange, that would also drive the "PTO" for the bucket. (I've used a real one many times in my past days painting billboards.) Next... Ditched the coil springs in order to turn over a new leaf... Side view. I cut the oil tank off the base of the bucket arm and moved it to the other side, it filled the space perfectly, but I had the cap the holes with sheet plastic... Outriggers outrigged. What's up in your world? Couple more name ideas... "C-Bucket" and "Bucket -T"...

I really like this. And don't worry about your desk, it looks just like mine, about a little less than a square foot of working area surrounded by piles of plastic and tools.

Progress! It's still looking like a McDonald land prop thanks to the red white and yellow... A coat of primer will fix that when the time comes, but for now, we're still bare plastic. I've started filling the gaps between the two body source pieces with sheet plastic. Made new running board covers. Also cut down a bench seat to fit. Bed rails and a radiator. Started a new window frame, centered the headlights better... Side shots... Underside with V-drive/PTO A little boom/bucket action... That's all for now, as always, thoughts and comments welcome!

This is a really successful conversion, Mike! ;D ;D ;D A tip: The thin plastic axles, bent slightly by the weight of the big and wide wheels. (Your underside pic) I use with my wide wheels, whenever possible, a metal axle, steel or aluminum. They do not break, and you can better control the state of the whole width of the wheel...
