says Carl Denham to the captain enroute to Skull Island. I've been slopping a King Kong [Playing Mantis ~Aurora branded] together on the side. Always had a soft spot for this movie, all the way back to my early teen years. The movie is still the best with Fay Wray. (and not just because of the brief nudity scene) Watched it again last night. in fact. So if the big monkey model is 10 inches tall, and according to internet sources, King Kong was 50 feet tall (600 inches) does that make the model 1/60th? Fay.. what a babe:

In the origional movie Kong's size varied from 25' to 50' according to his surroundings. For example he needed to appear taller in the New York scenes so that he wouldn't disappear in the cityscape. They didn't change the scale of the animation models just the background so if you pay close attention during the Empire State Building scenes Fay Wray appears to be 12-15' tall. What people were seeing in the theater was so innovative that most didn't even notice the size discrepency.
