This is my build for the DW challenge with the King of DW's, Ira. This build is almost 100% scratchbuilt, the driver is from a R/C car and I used 2 pieces of mufflers and 2 wheels to form the quick change rear. I had counted at least 475+ parts, but then added more to the build. I'm confident I passed the 500 mark easily. It was originally planned as a Green car, when I saw what color Ira picked for his build I swapped the Green for Orange. It was a fun build and challenge. I will admit, I'm glad this build is over, it was a lot of work. And as I type this I see my work is still not done, I just noticed the headrest pad taped to my PC tower, where it was drying. It looks like I missed the deadline! ;D Without further delay, here is the Sprinter,

Well, I was never a fan of these little runabouts, but I am overwhelmed by your handiwork, which is a testimony of the upper scratchbuilding league... ... awesome execution, my hats off, Dave! ;D ;D ;D

One of the all-around (Around, get it?) most impressive pieces of work I've ever seen on this site, and that's saying a lot! Everything about this build is incredible. The scratch building, the design, the paint, the art and all the little details. A-freaking-mazing! Well done.

Awesome, all around!
I'll be staring at this one for quite a while: picking up on all the little details!
Love the "Dahm's Racing Bodies" nod towards your fellow 'toon challenge associate!

Now Dave,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ;D ;D ;D Thanks guys. Yes I had to give credit to my competitor, who's bodies I did indeed use when I raced R/C. I had a few Devastator bodies and some SS454's too. Here's the part I was talking about, still stuck to my tower.

While Ira may have perfectly caught the style of a Deal's Wheels kit (and really, WOW!), you managed to capture the feel of a Dave Deal illustration. Just amazing! And more scratch-building than I could ever manage.
If it was 2D it would have been on the cover of a CarToons for sure. So, in 3D..... well...
Great job!

If there is a Sprint car museum somewhere this belongs there....or in MY display case. I really enjoyed watching this come together. Great work!

This is a simply wonderful model.
Will we be seeing a diorama base for it?--I know you were kicking around the idea.

Spectacular build!!!! The lettering and linework is exquisite! I'm impressed! how much fun is Burnishing gold leaf in scale? how big are the #'s?? an inch? 3/4??? Damn fine work man! Top class all the way! from the scratch building, to the fit and finish...the fact that I can't focus on the wheels. DIGGITY DAMN FINE WORK!!!!
DAMN FINE!

Thanks guys, I'm glad you all like my work.
As for the Dio, yes it will be coming, but not for a while, this build was a bit exhausting. I need to get back to just cutting up plastic that is already molded into a shape of some sort.
