Well I just cracked open a 1965 issue of the Sandpiper by Hawk Model Company... Filling a sink hole or two getting things ready for primer... This should be a hoot....Stay tuned!

Kinda a poor man's Surf Woody!! Before Surf Woody was reissued I picked up two mint Sandpiper kits....seems many of them never got built. I have thought about building one as it could be cool.....I'll be watching!

My son was in his teen's (now 35) when he told my wife he wanted to buy me something I didn't have in my collection .. between the 2 of them they found this kit ... now to decide on a body color theme ... hmmmm |

Ok kids .. I have most of my parts prepped and in primer as we speak ... let's open this up to not only Dave and I but ANYONE else out there that has a Sandpiper collecting dust in a box !! ... ;D

We have paint ~~~!!! This thing is gonna say "surf" all over.. Ha!! about 20 minutes and I'll be laying some clear ... stay tuned for a teaser photo later this evening.. |

I got one from Chimneyville....it is a recast of a old MARX figure!
I'd love to join in the build but between a few cars, a B17-G and projects for Model King/Moebius I am booked!!!

thanks fellas .. I just finished up a little Alclad work on a few pieces .. I should have everything ready to assemble by this weekend .. I'm really wanting to add the original decals but I'm not sure how they'll "mix" with the paint scheme .. thoughts ??

Zebra stripes for the sides around the port windows.. foor prints over the roof.. "Love" decals and flowers ... |
