Here are some pics from my sons Pinewood derby race. He wanted a custom paint job this year since last year a scout who's dad owns a body shop had a pro paint job. The decals are from the parts box. He did very well , finishing second in his den (his best friend won) and in the "king of the hill " it came down to a tiebreaker ,again against his best friend. They actually had the same amount of wins and seconds, and they both had the same fastest time. It came down to a best of three race final, and my son ended up second overall. It was a great day, everyone was a good sport, whether hey won or lost. Incidentally, can anyone think of the kit where my son got the idea for the paint scheme ? How about which kits the decals came from ?

our pinewood derby race is coming up soon (March 23rd.). My son jackson and I arfe in the process of building his car, and it will be a salt flats style 32 ford coupe (like the Peirson brothers coupe) with a severly chopped top, and rounded front end. there will be 3 stainless steel velocity stacks poking through 3 holes in the hood. my son took 1st place 2 years in a row, and last year he took second. it's so cool to see the kids get involved in the pinewood derby, and a little competitveness is good. but like you say, they all usually walk away happy wheather they win or not.
