Hi. I'm new here, allow me to introduce myself:
I'm Blake, I live in Montreal Canada, I'm 31 years old. And dang, I love building models. I like especially the nostalgic rods and fantasy cars, but I dig some military as well as big rig. Got a lot of stuff on the table. Drives the wife nuts but at least I'm home, I tell her. There are a lot of good modellers out there, so I spend a lot of time on line looking at builds. I play stand up bass in rockabilly bands, playing car shows all summer and seeing lots of cool hot rods and kustoms is what got me back into this.
This here is an AMT Round 2 model. Pretty basic kit but leaves a lot to the imagination. I like hillbilly music and cowboy stuff, so when I saw this I had to build it. No brainer. I wired and plumbed it and stuff, and used washes to create a rusty weathered look. Only time I've done that so far...
I am yet to build a 1:1 scale rod. I drive a 1:1 scale car but it's NOT a hot rod, chuckle. I don't know about you other fellas (and gals) but sometimes buddies who have real old cars, they make fun a bit. But me, it's like water off a duck's back. I love my model cars.
I look at this kit and wonder if such a thing even exists in real life. The least aerodynamic car on the dragstrip, look at it fly! haha. My daydream is always to build a go-kart version. Out of a 4 wheeler or maybe a golf kart, some old wood, etc...sit in there and enjoy refreshments at the car shows. Thats the life. Just a daydreamin' away, lol.
So yeah, that's enough outta me right now.
Cheers from snowy Canada and happy modelin'!!!
Your pal,
