A few years ago, my cousin found an old Timex watch display case in my grandma's garage that my dad had used to display his model cars he built in the early 60s. This past week, my son and I finally pulled it out and cleaned up and repaired the eight cars that were in it. We have a few left over pieces, but overall, I think we did well.
This is a picture of the only car I have identified so far. It is a Black Widow Ford T pick-up rod. I am unsure if the flame decals he used instead of the web decals were included in the kit, or if he purchased those separately. I positively identified it as the Black Widow because there is one web on the back of the car.
I am excited to have found this website! I am hoping to identify the rest of his cars using the info on the site.

I'm sure there's enoug of us around here that help identify them also ! You're right, it does look like Green Hornet engine parts on it. Knowing how my dad was, that doesn't surprise me. If the engine hadn't already been in there, though, I would have been afraid that my son and I messed up! I will post pics of the others soon. Since starting this thread a few minutes ago, I have already identified his Beatnick Bandit and his Canned Heat (although that one confuses me because it's dated 1973 on this website and I didn't think he built models after I was born). Fabulous find! How great is it to hold something in your hands that you know your dad built with his hands.

Thank you for your offer of possible spare parts. The Outlaw (thanks milo 1303s) is missing its front axle and one front wheel. If you have an axle and front wheel, I would love to buy them from you. There is a truck that I haven't identified yet missing its engine. I will take pictures of the other models and post them in the next few days to see if any of you are able to help me identify them. I am not sure what all is missing from each car until I can id them all. Thanks so much! Miz Que

Very cool! Love knowing they are being lovingly restored by family and not lost to a yard or estate sale. Post pics of what you've got, there will be all answers as to what is what and what is missing. Welcome to the Corner too.

Almost like a "Barn" find. Kinda cool finding stuff like this. From what you've posted sounds like your dad liked the Show rod genre. ;D

How cool is it that you get to share this with your son! Are you going to surprise your dad with the restorations when you're done?
Welcome to the 'Corner!
