I'm new here and wanted to show you one of my projects . It's sort of " In Progress " since I've been hunting for parts for quite a while . The main body , engine , and base were a glue bomb with lots of missing parts . The rest of the parts were found in parts junkyards I bought on ebay . They are all in like new condition . I'm missing the cowl , dash , steering wheel , machine guns , some engine parts , and a front wheel and tire . Oh , and the helmet spike ! I was planning a stock restoration , but since some of these pieces will have to be home made I might do some chrome plating and build a custom .

I built one a while back and mine was missing a lot of parts too. My cowl and firewall were also missing, but i built the cowl out of the center section of the hood from an a-la-kart. I made the firewall out of some thin sheet plastic. Mine was missing the front wheels and tires, so i used standard 1:25 scale red barron front rims in some narrowed 1:32 scale tires. the steering linkage that i used, came from a paddy wagon kit if i remember right. the intake was missing on mine, so i used a dual carb intake from a 1:25 scale flat head 4 cylinder engine and added 2 stromberg carbs. I made the air cleaners out of tamiya german soldier helmets. I added spark plug wires, fuel lines, and i made a chrome valve cover to go on top of the engine. My shifter was missing, so i made one out of a peice of wire, and added a german rocket grenade for a shift knob. as you can see, i also added a driver and he's wearing a german helmet too. I made the spike on the helmet roof out of a christmas ornament and i made the roof removeable with a pin in the back that just drops down into the hole in the back of the body. as you can see, mine is missing the emblem on the radiator cap and the machine guns. I tried to make some guns for it, but every one i made didn't look right. I'm not trying to upstage you or highjack your thread, i'm just trying to give you ideas of things that you can make to get yours finished if you don't have all of the stock parts. I painted mine candy red over a silver base. all of the "silver" on mine is done with krylon satin nickle paint with the exception of the front and rear axles, which are painted regular silver.

I have never seen this kit in real life, but judging from the pic on the box, could it be that the machine guns and the helmet spike is the same as in the normal Baron kit? Just thinks it looks like the ordinary parts....

robriley - Thanks for the tips and thanks for posting the photos of your L'il Red Baron , I like it alot ! bugaboo - I have a spare Red Baron and am looking at modifying some of the parts to fit this one . There is quite a size difference but the guns and the spike might look okay .
