I've been looking for years and i'm starting to lose hope. I love the Batmobile, but equally love Herbie the love bug. I'm still looking for this version- Prefer a restorable built, gluebomb, partial. I'm disabled and suspect I cannot afford a mint example. Thank you for looking.

Hi a cheaper way would be find a builtup Funster bug It's the same kit and I think someone made copy's of the decals I know still not really cheap but definitly cheaper than an original I would be just fine with that. I had heard there was a "similar" bug kit out there, just didn't know what it was called. Thanks.

Would be easy to do those decals even with the ink jet version, you'd want to do the color stripes on white paper and cut them as strips, black numbers and circles on clear should work fine. I agree on the Funster, would be the easier way to go, but it looks like the Deals Wheels fans have figured this out as well, even these are going for big bucks, the only one showing in Ebay completed closed at over $200. Yikes.

There is another way around with this herbie... you can find a funster vw bug.. but the tires has different form so... you may ask someone who can copy you a resin of the tires.
Yet the Funster bug is pretty hard find tho.. but you can get it in a almost full version but with a different wheel and may be a little faster to find it.

Good luck You'll have to change the roof to match Herbie though It looks like it would be pretty easy though Hope you win and want to see Herbie when you're finished

The only real difference between the Lil Herbie and the Funster bug are the Lil Herbie license plate ,the wheels and the tires. Unfortunately, those were only available on the Lil Herbie, but you could make a close clone with the Funster. The Bug Bomb would take a little more work; The Bomb has no bumpers, so they would need to be scratch built, the sunroof would need to be cut out , the back window would need to me made into a one piece glass, and the tach removed from the hood. Given the fact that the plastic on these is as thin as an eggshell, they can and do break very easily,so modifications are going to be tricky. I had a bunch of repop decals made for the Herbie ,I sold most of them but I may have a few left if you come across on of these kits. I got mine a few years back on Ebay in a junk lot. I didn't even know what it was and got it for a ridiculously low bid .It was really rough, but complete. Sometimes you just get lucky ! Here are some pictures of the one I restored. The rear pipe was not part of the kit, but I put it on anyway as there was a place for it in the back.

As a matter of fact after Don posted I just realized that I more than likely have most of the molds for the parts you'd need to do the conversion,, including a "Lil Herbie" license plate mold !
