Alternomad II - Ready For Paint

My first build of 2013 is an old kit from my stash . Since it is about to be reissued I thought I'd take a shot at building one . It's not the best kit , it has a very low parts count and most details are molded in instead of being seperate pieces .
I really like station wagons but this body just doesn't look right to me , so a few modifications are in order . First , the longroof gets a chop and is moved forward about 1/4 inch . This allows the tailgate to be angled forward similar to an original .











Next I remove a section of the roof and added the side to side grooves that are the trademark of Nomads .









The last body mod is to tuck the big front bumper in closer to the grille .



This might end up being a pretty quick build so more photos soon !

Nice start! Glad to see you make some changes to this kit. I had a couple of 91 and 92 caprice patrol cars. Than ran pretty good but looked like roaches driving down the road. ;D

I've been playing around with ideas for the front end and this is what I ended up with .

Modified headlight buckets with lights from a 2009 Challenger .
Opened the grille and added a crossbar and bowtie .
Sanded the top of the fenders to match the hood .
Added mirrors from a 1986 Monte Carlo .

It needs to be cleaned up some more but it's getting there !

That opens the front end up nicely, kinda Dodge Magnum. I like it.

Did a little more work on the front and I think it looks better now .
Since most of the body work is finished I mocked it up with some wheels and tires . It should be ready for paint this week some time .

I love what you're doing, especially canting the tailgate forward. Really improves the look of the back end.
