Inspired by the plethora of wild builds that have populated the site lately, I was at the hobby store and picked up a TJ Taxi. Inspired by a Beer Wagon kitbash by Dave Van (If I remember correctly), I decided to build a Tequila deliver truck. Here we go!!! My intention is to use only the kit parts, with the flatbed being built out of scrap plastic and balsa wood. We'll see, I may get lazy and use a bed from the Beer Wagon, seeing as how I will be using some of the barrels anyway.

Frame is stripped and ready for the engine relocation. Worked a little more on the body. Probably going to switch to superglue to speed up some of the processes.

I remember that one! I was searching for the truck that I remembered, but couldn't find it anywhere. It was a Red Beer Wagon with the cab mounted forward, and the engine under the bed. Anyway, I've about got it looking like I want. A few more details and it will be ready for primer.

OK, shortened the back end and lowered it about a quarter inch. I think that looks better: Time to take it apart and get some primer on it! Sticking with the original idea of using just the kit parts, I'll be using the "flower vases" as tail lights. Note: The photos show a few things out of alignment, but it's just pinned together right now. It will be straightened out when everything is glued! Oh, where have I been? Working, and playing with my other hobby, cooking! Making a Beef Wellington this weekend!

Neat!! I love the shortened body as a flat-nosed cab, especially with the dual coil springs in front of it. The rear fenders titled back and used as fronts is a great idea. I'm not in love with the bed being so high, but it does clear the engine. Can't wait to see this one all finished.

I got pulled away from this project by some work stuff. Little things like meeting with the company President and presenting service awards to some employees. I made some progress this weekend... A few details left; headlights, taillights, windows... but it's getting there! As I preview, I don't know what setting I changed on the camera, but it's different! I was hoping to show the results of my first tri-color fade, actually my first attempt at ANY type of fade. I'll try later to get better pictures. Cheers! Bill

OK, got the camera back to normal. Yes, somehow I had bumped the Sepia setting. I'm calling this one done. I may later add the Tequila lettering on the roof board and put some mirrors on it, but the goal was to build this "out of the box". I did fudge a little by using one extra fuel tank and running board from the parts box. The flatbed is from an HO scale wood panel sheet. I threw some simply plug wires on the engine, just because I was waiting for glue to dry that day. Cheers, Bill

I saw this back in March and thought what a great idea. I have an old builtup and decided to try this (hope you don't mind) You have done a nice job, I put a little twist on mine, will post pic's later. Thanks Hey! I believe that's what this site is all about! My inspiration is fed by all the cool projects that are posted. In fact, I already dug out a glue bomb TJ taxi and took the saw to it after seeing the TJ rat rod thread. It won't be exactly the same, but it gave me an idea. There is many a time that I just browse through the gallery and look at how far we have come. There are so many fantastic builders on this site! I am truly honored to be a part of it. Thanks for the comments, and I can't wait to see your idea! Cheers, Bill
