Hey Guys! While I was pondering on how to finish the roof, I decided to finish the rear wheels that I started some time ago. The 1:1 car had what looks like 15x10" American Torque thrusts used for the final (kit) version. Here is how I made my set. Starting with a pair of original (thanks go to Wayne Mcvey) big 'T' accessory wheels, I first stripped the chrome & then drilled the holes for the valve stems: The location holes for the valve stems are in a different place on the early wheels (on the angled area) compared to the later ones (between the spokes). You'll also notice that I have already cut off the outer flange on both the rims. Next, I used 2 rear deep dish (Big Deuce) inner rims (which just happen to have the right offset) to create the deep offset after grinding out the mating flange, they were chrome stripped, glued & clamped for a few days: In order to get the new rims to match the diameter of the old ones (5/16"diff.) I cut one side of the new outers & spread them enough to match the mags. Ironically, the circumference looks the same! Then I spliced in a piece from a spare rim to complete the assy. Here they are ready for some putty & primer work: And here is how they look with the tires: And from the backside with another inner rim: Hope you like them! More soon! ;D
