Hi guys Thought I´d show you this fairly rare Street Freak Oldsmobile from Monogram. Its the same kit as the Hairy Hurst Olds, just different decals. I changed the wheels on this one, since the wheels were started, and beyond rescue. i remember having this kit when i was a kid. actually, i was trying to think of the name just the other day, because i am in the middle of doing a hurst hairy olds. when i built the yellow street freak version, i didn't paint anything on it...put it together in an hour or 2, all in yellow unpainted plastic. i would have to say that the year i built this was probably 1978-79 ? i can't remember exactly. i remember my mom bought it for me when we were at the grocery store...yep, our grocery store sold models back then...lol

Hi guys Thanks for the comments Ramone: I´m not sure exactly, the box is stuffed away, somewhere in my basement. But I think I remember that its from 1977. If not ´77, then its darn close anyway...

Cool version of the Olds. I've never seen it. I've always liked the different "versions" of other cars. Like the Hemi Hunter/LA Dart and the "Demons"-flamed '54 Chevy panel...

What timing!! I JUST bought one of these off eBay, like an hour ago! They don't show up too often, and this one is unbuilt with a good box and a nice unused decal sheet. At the very least, it could be used to make some repros. Like Brandon said, I like these mid-late '70s versions of the old Monogram kits; reminds me of when I first started building models.
According to Thomas Graham's "Monogram Models" book, the Olds Street Freak was available from '77-'79 - not long in those days. I love those flames!

The reason I'm looking for it is I'm trying to get all of the models in this photo. I got these kits for Christmas in 1977 or 1978? So far I have the Camaro & the Dodge van and I know where I can get the Brooks car, but it will cost me $200 to get it and I'm not ready to spend that kind of money just yet on a kit. Or if any one else on here has one for sell or knows where one might be.. Marty
