The side spears and the rear bumper are chrome , the rest is polished BMF .

Clearly you are the BMF King! hey did your elky look as clean as this? I used to own a 59 Elky before I got shipped off to Uncle Sam's Army, while I was stationed overseas, my parents sold it and bought me a 57 Chevy 2 dr post sedan, not a bad swap. But all the time I was in Germany I was thinking of what I was going to do with it to fix it up, I had big plans for it that never came to pass. To this day I would llove to find another Elky that I could do what I wanted to do to it. Sorry for the long story, but your build here brought back some fond but forgotten memories.

Thanks carcrafter ! I'm still learning with the BMF and it looks a lot better in the photos than it really is !
My real El Camino did look just like this except the paint was beginning to fade and some rust had developed along the rocker panels . I bought it when I was stationed on Okinawa in 1975 , it had been shipped there in the early 60's by a Navy Lt . and was very low mileage when I got it ! I eventually put a 4 - speed in it , hot rodded the engine a bit and put the Cragars on it . It was my daily driver for 13 years and I really miss it . During that time I also picked up a '59 but could never afford to do anything with it . Good times .

I received a very nice PM the other day telling me how nice my El Camino looks and that it would be perfect if it weren't for "That ugly a__ exhaust hanging under it !" I'd just like to say that in a way I agree with him , but my real El Camino looked just like that and I guess I'm just used to it being that way . If I still had it maybe the exhaust would have been replaced by now , who knows .
Anyway , no offense was taken and I welcome any critiques of my work , that's how we learn to improve .
