Well my friends I am extremely happy to have this kit. It is my all time holy grail of models, since I have acquired one (Err...Sorta, she's rough) I need to put a new one on the list. So here is what I got yesterday, It was in a box of models my friend got and he was nice enough to give it to me. It's missing the wheels and some parts are beyond repair (Most of the rear suspension). Here is the start of it. Who ever built this in thier childhood REALLY liked testors glue, I mean REALLLLLLY. They also put a few nice holes all over the body. I think I'm gonna keep this original just for Nostalgia sake.

I enjoy rebuilding glue bombs too , but sometimes the best thing to do is buy another kit ! I would have loved to have done that, but this is a rather expensive kit unbuilt. And there is still enough work that would have to be done to it that I wouldn't want to do on a triple digit kit Vs a gluebomb. Well I dropped her in some La's over night and have started bodywork. As for the chrome railing on the sides of the car It's to fake looking, so I stoped by the store and picked up some aluminium tubing in the same size. Here I have cut it to size and drilled two holes in the same spot as the other ones. The I will attach tubing to the hols and polish it up, give it a good seal with some clear, and It will be better than new.

There's a couple on eBay right now, a mint/unbuilt for a measly $250, but a nice started one that's at $20! You could always find one of the reissued Tiger Shark kits for a new chassis & engine as they are the same. I went and found Mike Scott's beautiful build up he did for Mark Moriarity, and sits in his Restored DR at shows..... coffincorner.proboards.com/thread/9022/dream-rod-mark

I couldn't spend triple digits on one and didn't mean that you should either . I just thought that I had seen a couple in the 40 - 50 dollar range , my mistake !
Anyway , your looking a lot better after the bath in LA's ! I like the aluminum tubing too , it will polish up nice and purty .

Thanks for the link. Do you know how Mike made the scoops on the roof?

Well, it's been a while since I've been here, but if your interested,I have a complete unbuilt Dream Rod kit I would be glad to sell at a very reasonable price. $60.00,and I'll throw in a sealed Tiger Shark kit also. I think I payed $100.00 for this kit some years ago. It's all there! Paul, "boomburke@hotmail.com" if you're interested!

wasn't that the recently re-released Tiger Shark? Sadly no. They are two entirely different cars but were also the same one, It's confusing. The dream rod started out in the mid 60's and then once it was done with the show circuit it was bought and converted into the tiger shark. The conversion included an entirely different interior, major body work, and new paint. Then a few years ago a collector found the tiger shark in bad shape and spent three years converting it back to the dream rod.
