SWEET TUNES With BABY MOONS!While working on the Interior I realized I had No Music. So I decided to make Speakers from Moon Hubcaps! I measured and traced 2 circles on the Interior and then cut them out. Here is one of the New Speakers in place. It will be painted with flat black later. I found this Instrument Panel in an AMT 57 Chevy, should be just right for the Cam Air. I applied a Black Wash to enhance the Gauge Faces. More Coming...

RECESSED!I decided to mount the License Plate in the lower Roll Pan. First I measured to center and then drew in the shape of the opening for the License Plate. I will be using a large "L" shaped Plastic Strip for the License Housing, but sheet plastic would work too. I cut out the area with a Cut-Off Wheel and an X-Acto Knife. I used File Boards to smooth out the cuts. I cut the "L" shaped plastic to fit and glued it in place. I sanded off the bottom section flush with the Roll Pan. Then I cut two small pieces of plastic and glued them on the ends of the "L" shaped Strip. More Coming...

GETTING FRAMED!At first, I had planned on using the ZZZ-28 Frame because I have 3 and it was a pretty good fit. But after a while I figured I could still use the 57's Frame if I shortened it by about 1/2 inch. I used a Razor Saw to make the cuts and I glued it back together with Zap-A-Gap, Green Label. I used strips of plastic to make the joints stronger. Now it fits pretty good... More Coming...

WHERE'S THE AXLE?I got no front axle parts with the 57 Glue Bomb, so I added one made with plastic tubing. I used the zzz-28 for Wheel Base measurements. I cut opened a hole with a #11 Blade in an X-Acto Knife. Then I cut some plastic tubing to length and glued it in place. More Coming...

WHERE IS THAT WHEEL?I am missing a rear inner wheel. Lucky I had extra Porsche 911 wheels left over from the "MUD BUG" Build. The 911 Wheels are a Great fit in the big Deals Wheels Tires. I will use plastic tubing to finish the Wheels. I cut a 1/4 inch length of plastic tubing and glued it to the inside of the Wheel. I will be using the Inside of the Wheels on the Outside of the Tires. Here is how the Wheels fit in the Tires. Here are the Wheels glued in place with Zap-A-Gap, Green Label. I added a piece of plastic on the inside to stop the axle. More Coming...

GET RID of the RIDGES!I cut about 1/8" off the Front Inner Wheels and painted them with Tamiya Silver Leaf. Next I sliced off the Ridges from the Deals Wheels Tires. Then I Sanded the Sliced Areas with a Sanding Block. I got the DW Wheels from a Vintage Stink Ray Kit and put a Black Wash on them. Here are the Finished Tires! More Coming...

INTERIOR COLOR!I had to remove two sections of plastic from the sides of the seats. I did this to clear the Chassis. I painted the Interior with Tamiya Silver Leaf, then applied a few coats of Pactra Candy Red Enamel. I used some Black Acrylic and Black Flocking for the Non-Shiny areas. Here is the Interior with the Flocking applied. More Coming...

ENGINE MODS!The Supercharger from the 57 Chevy was a little small for this build. I replaced the Kit Engine with a Supercharger from a Corvette Zinger. It is about 20th scale which is just right. Test Fit! I had to remove a little from the Supercharger Belt and it fits right in there! More Coming...

MORE BODYWORK?I was planning to paint Cam-Air this weekend but I ended up restyling the rear end. I decided to add Frenched or Sunken Tail Lights to the Cam-Air, so I measured and drew 2 circles for the Tail Lights. I started the holes with a X-Acto Knife then I used a 1/2" Reamer to open up the holes. I am using 1/2" Plastic Tubing for the Tail Light Housings. I cut two 1/2" lengths for the Housings. More Coming...

MOVING THE PLATE...
I decided to move the License Plate Housing right below the Spoiler. I am going to use the original Plate Housing for 2 BiG Exhausts. I measured and marked the area for the Recessed Plate Housing. I used a Cut-Off Wheel to cut out the area. I cleaned up the area with a Sanding Stick and an X-Acto Knife. More Coming...

SINK IT!I cut the opening a little too big...so I glued a plastic strip in each side to fill it in. Here is the License opening after sanding the plastic strips down smooth. I will be using 1/4" wide plastic strips to make the Sunken License Plate Housing. Here it is with the plastic strips glued in place. I also glued a piece of plastic on the inside to close off the Housing. More Coming...

LIGHTS!I cut the Headlight Housings off of the Grill Bar and found some 1/16th scale Headlight Lenses that fit pretty good. I painted the Headlight Lenses white. I positioned the Headlights in place and then traced a line around them. Next, I ground off the excess plastic outside of the Headlight Line. More Coming...

SCRIBE and PRIME!I wanted to mention that every time I add a Primer Coat to the Body, I re-scribe the door lines. I use a #11 X-Acto Blade to start lines. The #11 Blade is also very good for making straight lines, by using the edge of the Blade. I also drag to Blade through the door lines backwards to make the line thicker. Then I use different scribes to make the lines even wider. I added some more putty around the taillights and anywhere else that needed it. I applied another coat of filler/primer and a very little more putty. looks like the body work is almost finished! Front Mock-Up! More Coming...

8 TRACKING!I decided to add a Stereo to CAM-AIR and I thought an 8 Track Player would be a Fun choice. It's been over 20 years since I've seen an 8 Track so I Googled some images for reference. I started with a length of Plastic Strip and drilled a hole in each end. Looks like Ala Kart Tail Lights will make Great Knobs! I covered the Strip with Chrome Bare Metal Foil and glued 2 Tail Lights in the holes. I cut another piece of plastic to make an 8 Track Tape. I rounded the edges and sanded it smooth. The 8 Track Tape Titles were made on the printer. I adjusted the Printer Preferences so I could print real small. More Coming...
