Hiya. New guy here. I'm in Germany, mostly building and painting Japanese garage kits (classic Super Robots and the like) but from time to time I just feel the need to build something that consists of more than (say) five or six parts. That's where show rods come in. I registered a few seconds ago but have been watching what you guys are doing for months now, and am flabbergasted at all the talent being on display here! Thought I might show you something I did. I opted for this one: It was done last year and as you can see it's built strictly our of the box. No modifications or other fancy work (I'm lacking the talent). Got the barrels at a modeling fair, the markings are DIY-decals. Like I said, nothing fancy, I just wanted to introduce myself.

It looks like you've got plenty of talent ! I like your version of the Beer wagon a lot . . . but now I'm wondering what could be in those yellow barrels !

Thanks for the welcome!
Hmmm... Beer.
This wasn't the beer truck. It was the RC Cola truck kit. The "super kit" - Came with paints (that stunk) and a brush (the kind that loses all its hair the moment it comes into contact with water). I kept the glue, though.
Btw, this is one of the things I learned looking at this forum: The existence of variants. Before that I found the ornaments on the truck (and the oddly shaped rear window) quite strange. But once I knew that this was originally a beer truck, well, all the pieces fell into place quite nicely.

The barrels and decals transform the kit nicely. Thanks for sharing.

Just a thought, instead of the iron cross back window, it would have been kind of cool to put the radioactive symbol in that spot

The idea about the warning sign in the back wall... Hmmm...
Intriguing. Now I have to figure out how to do it.

Like your build of the "Beer Wagon",aka "RC Cola Wagon". Good idea going toxic. The barrels work well with your decals. I have done my own version and it was fun. I started with the same kit as you, the included crappy paint, useless brush and I think the glue was that "safe" for kids stuff. I must say what a waste and would a big frustration for a new person to the hobby, because we need new builders to all the modeling hobbies. Cheers Eh!

Thank you very much for all the nice comments!
Oh, the glue is that bad, eh? So off to the bin it goes. Once (and if) I find it. Should be in one of my leftover boxes.
I really don't understand how the manufacturers think that by including these crappy supplies they can lure new people into the hobby. And you're perfectly right - We desperately need to get especially the young'ns into modeling again. But anybody trying to get his model to look as good as on the box using these supplies will inevitably think he sucks and that this wonderful versatile hobby is not for him/her.
I believe it's more useful inviting school classes to events and fairs - Like they do at the INTERMODELLBAU in Germany. So the kids who do take some interest can make contact with the clubs and solo modelers who display their stuff.

Great build of a great kit. Now all it needs is the toxic avenger driving it.
