"41 Chevy Vandal FINISHED!!!

I'm not sure if this would be considered a "Showrod" or not.

I’m building this for a contest on another site. The contest is to build anything Chevy. I had two kits in mind. I have been looking at the Vandal for quite some time wondering what to do with it. I first thought of removing the drivers area and adding another engine next to the other one and putting the driver in another place. I also have a ’41 Chevy P/U truck. This is my favorite year Chevy P/U mainly because of the beautiful grill. I was thinking of dropping the cab down to the ground but I thought that was too typical. Then one night I was looking at the two kits (Vandal & ’41 Chevy P/U) and thought why not combine both of them into a ’41 delivery, my way.

I removed the bed and rear fenders from the ’41, then proceeded to slice and dice the Vandal, narrowing, shortening & lowering it until I had a fit. I left the rear rounded part of the cab alone and added the Vandal box where the ’41 cab curved to the rear.









Here it is glued together:









A filled in the Vandal taillights and replicated the ’41 headlights for taillights and glued them on the rear fenders.

The Vandal body has some good lines that got ruined by the weird cab/windshield design . . . it looks really good cut down like you've done . Good work on t he taillights too !

I made some more progress here.

I puttied and sanded as smooth as a babys butt. Then I lain down the flat black and taped out the rear fenders as they are attached to the body. Then shot a metallic gold on the body.

I need to touch up where the rear fenders meet the body and do some wet sanding then shoot the gloss finish.

Surprising how all that fits together. Had it been me, I'd have removed the spoiler but that all boils down to personal preference. I really like it!

Ya know John I had been going back and forth on the spoiler. Should it stay or should it go? Well I pulled the trigger (on the Dremel) and removed it.

Thanks for the input and honest opinion.....it looks much better now.
