OK, here we go. First: I'll vote the same as Blake on the front wheels, .. definitely the smaller ones. ( -or --to say, ) "Ones" that are the size of, in the lower picture. -I also want to suggest that the rear wheel openings "Mimic" the shape of the rear wheels. ..... but I'm sure you had already planned that, -just pay'n my other 2 cents! ......... LOVE those Giant rear wheels BTW Knarf !!! ( and you're making them from scratch !!! )
---the Headers. .... well, they're probably not made by Hooker! ......... -or- made "By" a Hooker! ..he-he.
It is a tough one, you may have stumped me. -------Sooo, .. This is my guess: it is "Glue-Stick" ( like for a hot-glue gun ) ---with maybe a small wire inserted into it, to make it "poseable" ................... ArrrrGGG ! ! ! !

well now al...hadn't thought about the wheelwell thing but good idea and therefore, "so it shall be written, so it shall be done". thus far survey says the smaller wheels ARE the hot ticket here(see above quote). the header was indeed not made by hooker...or by a hooker(gave that up years ago)hahahahahahahahahahaha so what is it made of if not aluminum tubing(a geuss elsewhere) a glue stick or licorice...it's made from...drumroll...long drumroll...unbelievably loooooooooong drumroll...coaxial cable like we used to need to hook the vcr to the tv ta-da oh...and the white piece at the end is from a 1/32 usa-1 monster truck rim that i cut narrower for a different project.

A lot of vinyl type plastics simply won't accept oil base paints.

hmmm, I was wondering if you might encounter that problem...I certainly have in trying to use enamels to paint whitewalls on vinyl tires. Looks like Mysterion has answered one of my old questions as well...will be watching!

ok...so iceman suggested to put a clearcoat over the paint on this header to take away the tackiness...ta-da it worked however it also completely changed the color to a gunmetal grey metallic sort of it looks kool but not nearly cartooney enough. so now we try the clear coat before the paint and see what happens.

just a couple progress pix on the rear tire. first ones you can see the built up layers to get the sidewall shape i'm after. the red is putty and everthin else is plastic. and you can see i also started to carve the pie-crust detail. and this is what i'm using for primer. got it at dollar general for $1.25 and tho it doesn't spray strongly, it does have a fairly high "build-up" quality that suits my needs here.
