Feller's I need a stepside bed for a Chevy truck any of the years from 1973 to 1987. I think as far as kits go it would be 1974 or so to 1984. The best match for me would be 1:25 Revell, but will consider others. I have cash and trade fodder. I need to build a scale version of my 1:1 prject and need to look at it with a step bed and a fleet bed (I have that one). Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dennis That is a great kit, maybe we can work out a trade. However I am looking for the next generation body style from 1973 to 1987. Examples would be like the Ice Patrol, Billy Carter's Redneck Power pickup, Mr. Sandman, etc. I'll PM you some kits I have for trade and maybe we can work a deal on the 72. Thanks for responding!

1988 and up are totally different beds as the truck had a major restyle that year

For the sake of curiosity, and it doesn't appear that the part is available from the showrod fellas, The chevy stepside truck bed made very few changes until 1988, as don mentioned. From about 1955 to 1987 the box part of the bed is the same accept for some very minor changes. The big difference are the fenders and steps in front of those fenders, which are all bolt ons. If my memory serves me right the fenders are the same from 1955 (2nd half of the year) to 1966. The truck body style changed in 1967, so the fenders changed and stayed the same until 1972. Another change to the truck body came in 1973, fenders changed again and lasted until 1987. In 1988 with the new truck body chevy went to a moulded stepside bed, the step and fender molded together.

Hey Bert, A buddy of mine thinks he may have one of those trucks in his parts bin. He said he will check if you still need it. Do you need the tailgate as well ? Shoot me a PM or email me when you get a chance .
