This is my entry in the Coffin Corner Revival Contest .
I wanted to build a model as close to the real car as I could so it has a full frame under it that has been detailed with brake and fuel lines . I fabricated a four link rear suspension with coil - overs , used a GM front suspension with poseable steering , added a fully detailed 327 Chevy with an automatic trans . I did change up the exhaust a bit because I couldn't find any headers like on the real car .
I also tried a different color on my model . I really like the Chrome Orange / Tangerine color of the real car but thought that a slightly darker color would really " pop " on the model . . . after applying the decal I realized I was wrong , so a repaint is planned as soon as I get some more decals . It should be pretty easy since the body lifts right off of the chassis and is easily disassembled .
I also fabricated the hinge and the ring around the bubble top out of styrene plastic . It's held open with tiny magnets inside the body !
