I bought this 53 Vette bag kit a couple of years ago and finally found a use for it. I always liked the original Nomad that was designed using the 1st gen Corvette. I bought a 57 Nomad and Body at NNL East last weekend as I wanted to make a 58 Nomad from an Impala kit I have. The glass and tailgate for the body didn't match, 1/24 body,1/25 glass. This wasn't going to work, so I put the 58 away and dragged out the 53 Vette and started cutting. The 53 body I'm using. I shortened and narrowed the roof, cur the front off and mated it to the Vette's windshield frame. The real Nomad oncept has shorter front fenders and longer quarters, which while still looking nice, loses the sports car look. I left the body untouched and made the roof real short, this combined with the long front fenders and shorter quarters looks better to me.

I actually like this version better than the Waldorf Nomad concept. Very nice!

Has an almost 1970's funny car feel to it -- just a bit -- but that's a fun and good thing. Still looks pretty sporty, as-is ... but I can picture some subtle zoomies popping out from under the bottom edges of those long front quarter panels, with some sorta set-back engine with blower / injector hat arrangement peeking out of the rear portion of that front hood / windshield area. Doesn't look like that's where you are going with it ... just something I can picture happening. Any way you go with it, it'll look cool!

I thought the same thing about the 70's funny car, and although it would fit this body, it's just not my style. This build is part of a group build on MCM called the Cannonball Run. I don't see a funnycar making it across the country. Some day I'll build something with a blown big block, but for now I'm happy building stuff with more "Off the Wall" engines. My plans right now are for a turbocharged straight six using the kit engine.

You give your board name justice, Dave... ... Mysterion is in the doing, the kind where you got all this creativity, is really mysterious to me... As I said, very creative and great proportions!

My first attempt at hinging a door to fit inside the body. Making hinges sucks, but having things that open doesn't!

I agree with the F/C vibe. Looks like a fancy Wonder Wagon. I like where this build is going, keep up the good work.
