One of my all-time favorite Hot Wheels was the '75-'76 Neet Streeter '36 Ford. Based on their earlier '36 Ford from '69, it may not have had the opening rumble seat or the redline tires, but it did have a big scoop through the hood, a jacked up stance and red white and blue paint. Anyway, since AMT decided to restore the chopped roof in their '36 Ford, I was inspired to give it a shot in 1/25. My first thought for an engine/suspension/wheels donor was the Revell Miss Deal, recently (December '13) re-issued in as an SSP. While looking around the LHS to see if they might still have one of the shelf, I decided to try out the AMT Ohio George '33 Willys re-issue instead. It includes some nice new slicks and the option of newly-tooled 5-slot Halibrands in the rear. I've got the roof in place, and the engine block, oil pan and heads together, and started trimming to squeeze in that monster SOHC 427 Cammer... Plans for the future? Figuring out the suspension setup, and some wild brown/gold/orange candy '70s pattern/panel paint. Dave

OOOOO!!!! Can't wait to see this one! I don't remember whether or not I had that Hot Wheels car (I had a bunch of the early Flying Colors cars), but I have always remembered that light blue '36 and have thought that it would be a neat project for the Monogram '36. I hadn't remembered the chopped top, but I just looked up some pics of the Hot Wheel and it's definitely chopped. Cool project!

Scored some Miss Deal suspension pieces - this thing is starting to come together. That Ford Cammer is a really tight fit in the engine bay - I like the way it fills things up.

Cool Build! One of my favorite Hot Wheels. I had this version without the red lines. Do you plan to do the "Oldie but a Goodie" on the rear?

I'm leaning toward a '70s panel/fade paint job in several shades of gold, bronze and brown with candy orange fogging... but I might be able to work in some kind of tribute lettering on the rear.
