Tight Fit!After narrowing the front end, I realized I needed to hollow out the Body a bit to Fit the Chassis inside. I used a Drum Sander in the Dremel Tool to grind down the plastic strip and high spots in the body. Still need to remove a little more from the inside to fit the Chassis in. I had to do some Heavy Sanding on the Chassis too but I finally got a Great Fit! More Coming...

Lookin' good Ira ! I forgot to ask you if the Purple Power removes the lacquer coating under the chrome too , or just the chrome ? Thanks Bob!The Purple Power usually removes everything. Sometimes I use an old toothbrush or a toothpick to clear out the crevasses...

Circles & Squares!I started by drawing several Circles on the Rear Pan. These are markers for Cooling Holes. Next I drilled a small hole in the center of each hole. I enlarged the holes with an X-Acto Knife and then a little larger with a small reamer. I cut out 4 Squares of plastic strip and glued them in place as shown. These are the cross members that support the engine. More Coming...

Engine for the Beast!I sprayed the Big Engine with Tamiya Camel Yellow. Then I brushed on some Silver, front and back. Next I brushed on a Black Water base Wash, The Detailer. I will wipe off some of the Wash later with a wet Q-Tip. Here is the Engine, almost complete now. After a little trimming, I got the Engine fit back into the Frame. Unfortunately the Chrome wiped off. I'll paint it later... More Coming...

Well, that appears to answer a question. I was wondering earlier if that Camel Yellow would be an approximate match for the molded-in-yellow Monogram plastic. It looks fairly close.

Cut it Out!...with a Drill?I decided to turn the Van into a Bus! I'm going to cut out side windows, through which you can see the Engine. Here is the Funny Part. I cut out the Windows with a Drill Bit. I drilled a hole then pulled the Bit along the Line and it cut through as easy as can be... I used an X-Acto Knife and Sanding Boards to clean up the window lines. Here is a quick mock-up to show how the Engine can be seen through the windows... More Coming...

It was a shame to have such a detailed engine and keep it hidden - windows are a great addition

Paint it Black!I sanded the Chassis down nice & smooth. Then I sprayed on a couple coats of Flat Black Primer. I found some Plastic Tubing that is the right diameter for the rear Axle. I cut it to the right length and glued it in place. Next I fit the Body on the Chassis and marked where the Axle will go through the Body. Then I cut it out with a Dremel Tool. More Coming...

I did a little carving on these rear Suspension Parts from the Baja Beast Kit... Here they are painted Silver Leaf and glued in place. After a little more paint and a Light Black Wash... More Coming...

Ha! I love it! I've been looking forward to seeing it with wheels. Man, that front end is narrow; the Pie Wagon front axle isn't very wide.

Looking fine! Seeing it on the chassis is definitely a perception changer! Now, to be a "showrod" dragster, you'll need to add some rear fenders. and a skeleton
