I've got two other projects started for our Car-Toons contest so I have no business starting another one but . . . I found this while unpacking some boxes last month , and with the Blue Bandito hitting the shelves soon I decided it was time to restore it ! I built this in the 60's and it's been boxed up ever since , so I was a bit surprised when I found it . The plastic has discolored (I used to smoke) , all of the chrome is trashed , and obviously I was pretty generous with the glue ! Overall it looks very restorable so it's joining the other projects on my bench . I'll post updates when I can but it might be awhile !

Thanks Ron ! I managed to save several models that I built back then but had forgotten about this one .

Even with all of the glue it came apart fairly easy with the only casualty being the rear leaf spring , it broke in the middle ! Then it went into a bath to strip the chrome and red paint , and finally I soaked everything in some cleaner to remove all of the smoke residue . Except for a couple of spots everything looks like new , even the old decals survived !

If the rear spring's not savable, isnt that the same as the one used on the Monogram 30 Woody kit?

I've managed to get a little done on this , mainly some painting and spraying some Alcad Chrome . I tried using a blue base instead of black and instead of the Alcad having that metallic look , it looks like the chrome is too thin in places ! I'm thinking that once it's all assembled nobody will notice . The engine was assembled using only the stock parts and a little paint . That's probably it until after the 25th . . . Merry Christmas everyone !
