Hi
I've got the Dave Deal 57 cHEVY & Go-Mad kits but want to build them as a more modern style, rather than the box type gassers.
Instead of the real wide rear & super skinny front tyres, I want to use large diameter pro touring style rims or a similar set up to the zzz28 / Trans Um. Drop the suspension instead of high riders & no blowers. I also want to try & adapt a lower part of the front bumper.
Has anybody built a similar style ? Any pics or pointers to what parts to use will be a great help.

There was a Deals Wheels contest on this site a few years ago, and there is a Cartoons site here you can check out . You may find what you're looking for there

I've always dropped the suspension a bit on the gasser Deal's Wheels kit. A personal preference. This one was from the Funster set: And way back, before the repops of the last 10 years, when kits were scarce, I did a little bashing to have the cHevy on the shelf. I've sold it some time back, but I think it's along your lines of thought: I didn't have the original grille, radiator, pipes or bumper, so it has more of a modified '56 look. Tres Wright has an awesome Nomad on his site, where he cobbled together a complete bumper: treswright.vervehosting.com/Pages/gomadnomad.htmlShow us what you come up with!

Wow cool builds plastimatic, the brown car is kinda the look I want.
What Deals kits cam with that style front tyres ?
I'm thinking of building a Deals style version of my 1;1 57 sedan, which is why its gotta come down low !

Those tires are pretty common on Deal's kits , The cheapest way to get them is to look for an old ZZZ28 kit. You can usually pick up an old build up or a reissue cheap on Ebay. They were also on the Trans um which has also been reissued.

If you haven't already seen it, check this article out from the main Show Rod site. Scroll down to "New Deal '57" and download it. Michael Curry has built at least a couple other of the DD '57s - one as a convertible, and on Go Mad Nomad that is more like what you're talking about. I don't know how to contact him, though, or where to find pics of those models. I think both the convertible and Nomad have full front bumpers that he made by section ing and cutting down some 1/25 AMT front bumpers. Both cars are lowered and have the tires pulled in under the fenders. www.showrods.com/home_page_links/badnews.html Brian

Thanks for the link Brian. Thats hit the nail right on the head ! What a cool build from Michael. I'd rather not buy a complete kit, just for the 2 rear tyres but thanks for the info Gents.
I tried some 1;18 rear wheels & tyres but not sure if they will be too tall ? (still trying to fathom how to load pics)
