Paint is; Testors Classic Black Lacquer for the Chassis & Exterior Body Work, Krylon Rich Plumb Gloss for the Upholstered Items, Drive Train, Blower Hat "Butterflies" & Drag Chute, Krylon Brushed Nickel Metallic to simulate the "Magnesium" Inner Body Panels, Floor Pan & Seat Shell, Krylon Matte Clear to flatten the Upholstered Items & "Packed" Drag Chute. The Exterior paint & Decals were sealed with a single coat of Testors "Wet Look" Lacquer. Various Testors Model Master bottle paints were used for small details such as "Ebony Wood" Hand Brake & "Butterfly" Steering Wheel Handles & "Polished Aluminum" "Rivets", the Seat Safety Harness & "Snaps", The Roll Bar Padding "Snaps", "Packed" Drag Chute and "well worn" Brake Rotor details. A small amount of Bare Metal Foil was used on the Brake Calipers and to detail the Hand Brake Handle.
The decals are reproductions by Gooche. (The original kit decal sheet is in very good condition but over 40 years old, so why chance it? Besides, now I have the original sheet to display with the completed build .)
This is the only release of this kit (1971) and was a fairly straight forward build. The 12 piece exhaust system (8 header tubes, 2 flange plates and 2 tube stabilizer plates) was a little different but with a simple jig and a little patience, no big deal . The instruction sheet is a bit vague so review and plan ahead .
(There were only two other Wedge Dragster kits ever produced (The "Flying Wedge" & the "Spirit of '76". You can see them elsewhere in the "Completed Builds" pages, here .) but I believe this to be the only "real" car that actually existed. Mr. McGee bought this car from Kenny Goodell and campaigned it himself.)
Thanks for looking!
