Dave that is a pretty cool project. I am green with envy. You can go in many directions creatively with the 46. If it were mine, I would already be ordering wheel tubs and big tires for the rear. Keep us posted.

350/350 Chevy engine and trans. Not what I'd picked....but it's a nice conversion so I'll leave it for now.

That will keep it running while you work on the other things. If I don't keep them running, I lose interest quickly and end up selling them unfinished.

Attachment Deleted I love ya project coupe it looks like a bit of a cream puff. It'd look cool with a nice rubber rake or as a tail dragger.
I nearly built my roached 41 coupe ute into one. But I resisted the urge and built a neat pickup instead. Every thing that isn't green was fabricated. The truck is built over a 83 Toyota pickup chassis and floorpan to keep the costs low. It won't be fast but it'll be cheap to run.

Sounds about like my 46......Ford 9" rear, Mustang II front. 350/350 engine and trans. New very nice interior. I had to put a new throttle cable in, new battery and ignition switch ($10!!). Due to weather not driven her much.....but when I took the wife out she loved it.....that's a big plus!!! Nice Ford....love to see it!

I often hear people talk about budgeting to build a car, in my case I don't have one. I just plod along often taking years to do what others do in months.
A few years back I bought a 83 sigma scorpion (83 dodge challenger/Plymouth saporo) to build a 60's style show coupe from. It took me over a year to save up the meager dollars they wanted for it. In that time I also procured a badly rusted out 63 EJ holden sedan. The plan was to reskin the coupe from the beltline down. With each panels shortened to suit. What I loved about the coupe was its 2 dr pillarless feature plus its later corvette or trans am like rear window. The other cool factor is once converted from 4stud to 5stud wheels you can legally fit a V8 to them here. In this case we were going for a 318 Chrysler to keep it Chrysler.
Of course all best laid plans can unravel at times, my wife kat instantly loved it, researched it and realized in the states it could have been a dodge challenger. So many months later it does. It has quad lights, challenger grille, chrome bumpers, cuda taillights, coke bottle side styling, and has a nice sort of 69-72 style to it.

Wow that capri looks awesome, it's got a sweet style to it. I'd cruise with you any day. But alas we are all on other continents...
So anyway hows the ford coming along Davevan. Hearing about any updates to the old girl or just how many miles you've put on her would be awesome man.

I found a digital unit that looked like the other gauges and only needed 2 wires run from trans to speedo. Works great and easy for my old eyes to see!! Went to the first car show with her...still plenty to do....but show was only 50 miles away....a close show in my area!! Aluminum radiator was installed too. Car ran great...got 18+ mpg, nice and cool....FUN!!

That looks sweet, theres a fair few of these coupes over here in Australia. Yours has a nice rake to it. I bet your already grinning the moment you put the key into the ignition switch. I thinking driving cars like this, is one of the keys to eternal youth.
