I'm diggin' the concept. It will need some saddle tanks or tandem axle to fill in the space. Very cool. What is going to be riding on the back?

I found some smaller diameter front tires, and I have a set of round 18-wheeler-style fuel tanks. If they are too big I'll build some rectangle tool boxes from sheet styrene... The bed has a hinge, once I get that fabbed and working I can hang some stuff. I think it needs a lever box behind the rear wheels, also.

I go to Home Depot and where the plastic PVC electrical conduit is find a size that fits in a 4 or 6 inch length for about a dollar or less. If there is a sales person around I tell them what I'm doing sometimes they have scrap pieces for free. Sheet plastic end caps, paint and a cap done. Plastruck or CA glue works on it too.

I began roughing out the chassis using a set of frame rails from the Dodge cabover big rig that I anxiously awaited the release of, only to find it molded in some of the crappiest plastic I had ever seen... Things were going really well.. I extended the front frame rails to adjust the wheelbase proportions and got it into a roller stage on its own wheels and tires... All was well in the world. It even held up to the weight test with my middle kid's hot rod on the bed. However... eventually I went back and printed the photos from the eBay page where I had bought the bed. I hadn't put much thought in the hydraulic rams yet, but after seeing this photo, I knew I had done something wrong. I had centered the frame rails over the bed rails. As you can see in the photo, they needed to be moved inboard. Back apart everything came, the cross-members were shortened, and the rails were moved inboard. This allowed the rams to be mounted correctly... and I have to say, it works pretty good! I'm diggin it so far.

Now you need to do Andy Brizio's C Cab tow truck for his psychedelic phase.

Progress has been slow but steady. I find that I have a nice 30 minutes in the morning after the kids get on the bus and before the ol' lady wakes up.... prime model time, and things are dry when I get home. The bed came with a chain and some realistic tow hooks... I've also sorted out the headers, they will tuck behind the running board steps and exit under the cab sides. I dig it... and the bed is painted diamond ice silver and the cab is in the paint shop now getting a nice red coat. Final assembly and detailing are next... whoo-hooo!

Over here in Australia we call that a "Tilt tray". I love the concept idea.

I like it! Just the type of rig to pick up a stranded show rod, or haul it to the show.

Really cool. . . But a little tame for you? I love the action on that bed. Depending on what you are putting on that bed. . . You might need some more axels? Like a showrod tank??? Or armor? Hehehehe LOVE IT!

Your building!!!! Yeh! Looks killer! I build in the fall and winter... this one was on the burners and got boxed up for the summer.... I am looking forward to getting back on it. As it's been working out, I thrash in the cold months, and when I start getting burned out, I usually have one or two that are pretty close to being finished. When the fall comes back around, the heavy construction is done and I can finish them up and start fabrication on other projects... It's cool to jump back in the thrash and finish one quickly... I have some cool things this season, and as it draws near, I'm starting to get excited, and when I finally pull everything out, I'll be chomping at the bit and hammer on them with enthusiasm. It works well for me.
