It is looking good. I think being able to have another crack at kits we loved as kids is a great perk of getting older.

Fred Cady did a great set of decals for the Ala Kart many years ago and they work very well. I did a little research on the decals. The original AMT kit matched the original cars graphics from 1958 almost perfect in the Hot Rod article from the time. After the car had a carburetor fire and Barris redid the body and paint, the graphics was different colors than the originals. Then in 2008 when Junior Conway and Bill Ganahl did the restoration at Roy Brizio's, AMT/ERTL photographed it when it arrived with the Barris repaint and took the info to issue a new Ala Cart about the same time as it debut at the GNR. Junior Conway and Bill Ganahl restored the graphics to the original build, so AMT /ERTLs reissue did not match. Another change after the engine fire was from 4 carbs to Hilborn or Algon injection.
