During WW1 france had a well-known airman, Georges Guynemer. He died in 1917 when his SPAD airplane was shot down. This is a tribute to him and my travesty on the Red Baron show-rod, using the French company HELLER's Citroën 15 cv as basis for the build. The build was the outcome of a swedish challenge where 54 builders started one kit each in the beginning of december 2016. Yesterday we all met and showed what we'd built over the last month. 8 builders "jumped off" and another 9 builders had to leave W/O so 37 contributions were finally shown. Only what's in the box, the box itself and the "blueprints" were allowed to be used but we were also allowed to swap engine and wheels and, of course, we could use whatever colour and decals we wanted. I used the wheels from a battery-operated toycar in scale 1/20 "or so" and then took 2½ engines from the Red Baron. The clear-blue helmet was made using clear sheet plastic.

I like it. Great tribute. It makes me think of a Rommel's Rod Red Baron. All of those pipes look cool.

Looks like a show rod to me! Great job, especially on the engine stretch. (Too much is never enough.)

If you make your OWN show rod, and it's an obvious show rod and not a T-bucket with a new name or a custom Merc or something. it can always go in the show rod section... They don't just have to be on the 275 list.
In fact I would encourage everyone to make their own show rods.

I also find that this fits in the showrod section, especially because the engines and the rims are from the Red Baron, the homemade helmet also shows in this direction, and the Red Baron is a Showrod from the 275 list... Oh, and yes, Darryl, this is a very great build!

Its a real cool show rod, and I support the idea of making your/our own show rods. Its always fun to see whats not been seen before

How did you make the helmet? Vac formed it over an original one? That's really cool! I love the engine too! Nice job!

How did you make the helmet? Vac formed it over an original one? That's really cool! I love the engine too! Nice job! I took TWO original Helmets and cut in "off-set halves". The glued the 2 wider halves together and used as a mold for the clear one. I took a piece of clear plastic and heated over the stove. Then quickly put it over the mold and held still til it had got cold and hard. Thanks for the positives!
