New to this board , just thought I would join after lurking for so long. Have to say first that I get allot of inspiration from all members here, so a big thank you to whomever keeps this forum ticking. Taking a subject on another forum about stalled projects that perhaps some of you have seen, I thought maybe a chance to show one of the projects Ive been working on. It started out as an AMT 1940 Ford Coupe, the orange one. Allot of cutting, scratch building took place. It was originally going to be a Tom Daniel"s theme sort of build, with a 40' Ford/Bootlegger gimmick. Well things just evolved into a fenderless 40 roadster. Now, just don't know what to do with it? This was started two years ago. Any of you have projects like this you just can't a resolve? Well, just thought I would bounce this off the creative noggins here for ideas. Attachments:

That looks cool the way it sits - maybe add a couple of small roll bars or headrests behind the seats and a sloped back windshield ?

Yup that is just what I'm thinking, a roll bar and leaned back windshield. Ive been thinking of a way to utilize the original headlight bezels into the build to keep what is left of the 40' ford look. Also trying to find a theme that will set it off. Its been sliced up a bit, and its orange. So maybe Orange-Slice? Any one else have any builds that are on the back burner?

Mike, that Cord looks too cool not to Finnish. Scratch, what is that car in your Avatar? It looks fantastic! Here is built Horn Toad I got off E-bay, always liked the design but I'm thinking of doing a restyle of it. Haven't found any kit-bashed versions of the Horn Toad on line. Ive also got another one unbuilt in original box.

Welcome aboard! I too have way to many projects. I have recently decided to put all of them aside & finally finish my 1:8 scratch build of the Li'l Coffin. If I were you, I wouldn't touch that Horntoad, they are getting rare. I have one in my display case built by my late brother in '73. Please finish your '40 Ford custom project-it's kool!

Thanx, I have two Horntoads, so the new in box one I have will stay that way for now. The built up one, I would like to try an updated look. Sort of a Gary Campesi style build? The 40 ford is on the bench, working on suspension details mostly now, then will finalize the bodywork. Shot it with some white primer to get an idea of how it looks in a solid color. I'm Okay with it, just needs something extra to tie it all together.

I think the Orange Slice is a very cool name and theme for the '40 Ford. Find some cool headers that flow with the proportions without being too kooky and it will be pretty neat. I also have a pile of stalled projects, a Horned Toad kitbash being one of them, along with it's cousin, the Rattler. I might try and stick them together or something. HobbyBobby your stuff always fires me up!

And Bobby - you have some of the coolest builds I've seen anywhere for a LONG time! Great job! I really like the Butcher truck - is there a build thread for that one somewhere? I'd LOVE to see some more on the Timber Truck too - that thing was a masterclass in scratchbuilding!

Thank you! The Bathtub one, what engine is that? I LOVE IT!!!!! The engine is from the Gridiron Grabber kit: www.showrods.com/showrod_pages/gridiron_grabber.htmlBut not with the original scoops, mine comes from the Snap Draggins kits: And actually it is destined for this one here: Bobby, thats a Hemi and not one I've seen before (Why I asked) but anyway.... any good pics of the valve covers as I wouldn't mind seeing an up close shot of them. as I'm NOT sure thats one set I have and would like to hunt down! BUT I want to make sure of it first! Thank You! NICE job on this one...... I'd LOVE to have more of those rear tires and wheels like you have on this one for a coupla wild builds from me!! nice work man!

It is really a pain that photobucket has changed, now when a thread is accessed the pics are not available. It's a real bummer - I wish Photobucket would change their mind and put all the pics back so we don't have to keep seeing that weird speedo

Unless I'm driving, I don't want to see a speedo.
