Well James, I've just finished these two, showing the difference between the McLaren 2013 and the Porsche 961 in 1989! I'm building a American pickup at present, I'll have to get a pic from the cabin in the morning, in military green!   |

Ohhh, those are really cool Pat! Great builds! I really like the McLaren in particular (one of my favourite cars) but the Porsche is killer too! What kits did you use for those?

Hi kabdriver, The McLaren is a Fujimi Pacific Racing kit and the Porsche is a snap kit from Tamiya. I've just finished the Army Pick Up which is an MPC Hombre kit.....  I'm now onto the Revell Steve Kinser Sprint Car! |

Just a taster the kabdriver as it perhaps shouldn't be on here?  So chassis-engine block/carbs, radiator, steering, seat,front and rear axles and suspension. White plastic bodyparts undercoated white and first coat of bright red gloss. Question how do the decals go onto chrome plated, wings etc? OR should I take the chrome plating off? |

Ohhh, too cool Pat! I love a sprintcar...I've got a couple here to build myself.
Decals should lay down fine over the chrome wing - unless you wanna change the color of it, obviously! Personally, I'd trim them as close to the edge as I can because the backing will show through, but plenty (most) 1:1 sprint cars will have vinyl graphics now so it's not INcorrect for them to look like stickers a little

Yes that's the one but on another......! One question, can my sprinter go on this site somewhere? Also a query about my Kinser build, there's a chrome part No. 168 that is on the sprue but not in the build, it looks like a cover for something important. And why do the kit makers chrome so much that has to be painted over? Namely the top of the small front wing (Black). The huge roof wing is all chromed but the box art and the destruction's say the outside of both side wing plates are to be bright/flourescent Red, before adding the big decals, and the inside of the wing painted Black before the small decals. Why chrome when you have to take it off to paint? Really odd, so much easier to go the same way as the rest of the kit in standard white sprue! |
