Too cool, Paul! Nice build man! These are such an unusual subject - there's certainly some wacky drag cars out there as they experimented with what works and what doesnt. I love it! Very cool - looks nicely put together too!

Glad to see the Wedge dragsters coming back around. Very nice build, Paul, looks really great! How did you make the hinge, I think in the past, the body was up to the middle of one part + the nose, is it now of three-parts?

Glad to see the Wedge dragsters coming back around. Very nice build, Paul, looks really great! How did you make the hinge, I think in the past, the body was up to the middle of one part + the nose, is it now of three-parts? The first reissue was 3 pieces, front and middle nose and the wedge. This has 2 addition parts that block off the top exhaust holes. To make it hinge, I took two pieces of .040 x .080 plastic and files a shallow "V" in it and than glued it to the front of the wedges in the rear body. On the nose section I cut 1/4 inch off of the little flange the wedge sits on. I set the wedge and nose together and marked on the front body where the V was on the .040 plastic. Drill about a dozen holes in a row with a .035 drill. Connect the holes to make a slot. Use a pair of cut down sewing pins (I got 100 at Wally World for 79 cents) Put the nose and wedge together, push the pins through the slot into the plastic with the V. You can now slide the wedge back 1/4 inch and hinge it open. Sounds more complicated than it is. I'll post some detailed how to pics when I start Wedge #2 this week. Here is the only 2 I took of the WIP. Paul Hosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki

The hinge makes it believable. Great idea and awesome work. Love the color.

Great build. It's got me thinking about what a wedge shaped F1 car would look like.

Great build. It's got me thinking about what a wedge shaped F1 car would look like. Something like the old turbine Lotus, maybe?

Something like the old turbine Lotus, maybe? Now that you mention it, it probably would look something like that.
