Hi Steve, So good to hear from the actual creator of this car. Im curious to know how long did it take you to create the body and the build from start to finish? Mike Hi Mike. Check out my real website. This and other questions are answered on the History and FAQ pages on my real website. Go here: www.SteveScottsUncertainT.comLinks to all pages on my website are across the top of every page. The quick answer to your question, though, is 4-1/2 years, from about March 1960 while I was still a senior in high school, to December 1964. I showed the T for the first time in January, 1965. All The Best! Steve

Excitement is building! Showing an initial load on the Shapeways page showing the issues of the model. All checked out except for my wall thickness needs to be thicker in the red regions. Without these issues fixed the print wont fly. I'll go back to the model and make these adjustments so we are clear for print. Cost on the print from Shapeways at a 1/25 scale is $23.55 just so everyone knows. So its part of the process and thats how it goes.

We are set to go with the first run! I worked out the wall thickness and made some minor adjustments to the body(added tail light openings) and rear window opening. For now this first run is a prototype of sort in that I'll be able to take a summary of what working and whats not. I look for overall proportions and surfaces. Sometimes there are few changes and others there are more. Shapeways takes around seven to ten days once ordered. I'll let you all know once it arrives I will post up the pics. In the meantime I will be creating seats and a frame rail for body! Note the charge from shapeways! This is for a 1/25 scale.

Have you seen 3DHubs before, Mike? They're a comparison site for 3d printing services - I've found some GREAT suppliers on there, and some of them are so quick you can get delivery next day (or find someone local and collect!). Of course, Shapeways is the best outlet for offering these to the public and having consistant quality, but 3DHubs is handy for test pieces or one offs if you're in a hurry ever.
Looks amazing bud! I can't WAIT until I can order one myself! And the price is right too! Incredible! I hope you have a lot of interest in these - it's so amazing to see this old discontinued kit come back to life like this! Great job buddy!

I'll check them out. Thanks James! I found a few places in NYC that do printing now too - I can upload a part on there and just collect it the next day, or later that same day if they're not busy! Crazy! I LOVE living in the future!

So interesting bit of knowledge regarding this site. I threw up the model and they reported back I had much more work to fix. Thanks for the link as I'll be looking out for other sources for print besides shapeways.

Thanks for the link as I'll be looking out for other sources for print besides shapeways. Unless a seller has a part I REALLY want on Shapeways, I'm all for 3DHubs having tried a bunch of orders with them in the past few weeks. Shapeways was about double the cost and three times the wait for some of the stuff I tried. That said, they're doing the best job of being a one-stop shop for buyers and sellers, so... I designed a little 1/25th scale distributor that I wanted to get printed, complete with holes for plug wires. Shapeways outright said no they couldn't print it, and the first place I tried on 3DHubs charged me less than $1 to print it and delivered it 2 days later. I REALLY like their service. You're mostly dealing with the printers directly, but if you have trouble the site will give you your money back...

Ok thanks for the heads up. I do get really frustrated with Shapeways on time. Quality of the print is acceptable? I'm going to get a wheel done from them!
Thanks Jim

Thanks Jim Your mileage might vary depending on the vendor and the material you choose - but I had this axle done there and I'm pretty sure with a coat of primer it'll be basically ready to paint...no worse than Shapeways anyway

So cool! Thanks for posting this up. Its the next best from actually getting a part sent out. I think its time to get a part made. What was the material name you used on this?
Thanks

So cool! Thanks for posting this up. Its the next best from actually getting a part sent out. I think its time to get a part made. What was the material name you used on this? Thanks This was Formlabs resin - they do it in different colors but I just chose the clear to see what it looked like compared to the others. One printer told me that the grey material prints the smoothest and with the most clarity. These parts were done at a layer height of 50 (if the seller gives you the option...), so that or higher will yield pretty good results I'd say! I need to find those tiny distributors they printed for me in the grey so I can show you - I'll look for them now...

Here we go...a 1/25th distributor in the grey resin. Check out those tiny holes/indents for plug wires - fractions of a MM of wall thickness and they managed to print 'em just fine! It's crazy how good these machines are getting now

Too cool Mike! Looks AMAZING bud! I know you have a little to do to get it where you want it, but this is AWESOME! It's incredible to see it go from screen to an actual physical thing. Great job bud!

An update to the changes I have made in the last couple days. The images will show some adjustments that I felt were needed once I got the print in my hand. So important to go through the process from initial stages and show how it evolves into the final shell. A couple more adjustments still left, but its getting there.

I love that you added the trim around the windshield - that would be super easy to foil after paint. Brilliant! Good job Mike!

It's part of process that these have to go through. The more the better, but hopefully gaining experience by doing it enough allows for minimal change work. Glad to make these adjustments. The second version passed through tests and hopefully we get a closer to final version soon.

Hey Mike, do you have a head on pics of it from the front ? To me. it's looking very good !! Oh, perhaps you might also want to consider adding the locating hole at the rear; for the key/push bar - someone here should be able to provide you with the measurements needed

Great point. I'll get the hole placed from the best references and have that in on the next print. I'll always welcome these comments. Feedback on the work is so vital!
