Vacuum forming that whole roof/bubble/flap/whatever it is would be a cool way to simplify it, you're right ZZZ. Smart thinking! Print that whole thing out of clear resin even, if they can print it clear like kit glass - or vac form maybe if not.
Me personally, I'd choose to have the body, bubble and roofbubbleflap as seperate pieces if there wasnt a cost difference anyway, just to save tricky masking - but I'd take whatever. It's still an entire new body that we don't have already, so I'll work with it however it comes!

More great news! Kevin has finished the "Stiletto" and the model has passed through all Shapeway requirements. Delivery date is on the 19th and Kev will post up the pics once it arrives! Images are from Shapeways. Great job bro.

Question. Are the Shapeways items "printed" in ABs or Polystyrene? Paul

Hey Jedi,
At this moment, we are planning to make a mold...your end user cost would be to high from shapeways...believe me is was not cheap to get the scale you guys want. We just ran the first print, so we are talking to mold makers and maybe thinking of doing it ourselves as well.. we will keep you guys posted.

Amazing!!
Maybe stupid idea - but what would stop you guys 3d printing a mold of the body and pouring resin into that? Make a 2 or 3 part mold, like an injection molding tool - but it wouldn't need to be as tough as an actual injection molding die

Oh wow, AWESOME man!! It's been incredible to see these go from a reference picture on a screen to something that you can actually hold and touch (and build!)
Incredible job!

Looks so cool this far !!! Are you going to make suspension stuff and seats ? I`m thankful for your thoughts of costs considering 3D printing. If you are going to cast these you may think about supporting that thin roofspline with something. You have done wonderful job on this !!!

You'd think they'd be doing the body only, which I think makes a lot more sense; I'm pretty sure most builders should be able to figure out the rest of the few parts needed to complete. And I'm guessing this was a test run & that the bubble will be part of the body to maintain the integrity of the form and give the support.

I thought about complex front end of Stiletto - actually I`m really thankful for the body and bubble top!

Hello All, FYI the Stiletto 3d print is now available for sale, the final print will have a printed bubble top....You can paint it and it will look fantastic. As you know its the body only, we are relying on your skills to impliment the front arm suspension and final painting. Mike has tested the surfaces for paint and has had great results. Until are not sure if we are going to cast this,(no time frame set), in the mean time you can make a purchase now and Ill send you the raw 3d print from shape ways directly. The final cost is 165.00 plus shipping. Mike and I can answer any questions you have, please message me for paypal details for purchase. Current stock - I have one with the bubble and one without. After those have sold, there is 10-15 day order process from Shapeways.
Thanks Kevin
