Not absolutely sure yet, but I think I'm going to use this AMT TeeVee Dune Buggy as a basis for my entry. I have previously re-shaped the front fenders a little, and wedge-sectioned the body a bit to bring the nose down:

And... now the title of this thread makes me want to build a cartoon racecar all covered in wings/splitters/aero and call it "SPOILER ALERT."

Trying to find the right rolling stock, and finalize my build theme. The "Tas-TEE" name brings to mind the original soft-serve ice cream/fast food franchise. There used to be one a block away from my high school, and it was a popular stop if we cut class. I had thought about more of a Pizza Wagon thing at first, but the more I think about it, them more that this feels like an ice cream truck/buggy/T.

I am excited to see what you will do to it I think I have some resin showrod tires on the way from Sam over at Freemancars. I scored a resin VW engine - much nicer than the one in the kit. This weekend, I hope to make enough time to scratchbuild/bash a cargo/freezer area on the back of it. Still not sure if it will have a C-cab style cantilevered roof over the driver area, or not.

Ohhh, what sort of tyres did you get Dave? This build is gonna be SWEET! I made the masters a long time ago, using some "Goodyear" slicks from the Sunny (Japanese company) "bin bin" series of caricature models, and doubling them up to make them even wider than the original cartoon variants. Sam made molds, and sold a couple of sets, but they normally only got cast when one of us needed another set for a project. He said he thought he had a set or two squirreled away, so I'm glad i don't have to steal the last set that I have left out of my VetteVan project.

Since Der Weinerschnitzel owns the old tas-tee freeze trademark now, I thought I'd look into maybe more of their classic style, and see about grafting a Lil' Hot Dogger roof section onto the buggy.

Ohhhhh, that looks AWESOME Dave! Looks like it was made to fit on there! That's SUPER cool!! Love it!
What are you gonna go with for an engine on this one?

I opened up the sides a little in front, and mocked it up on some kinda-bigs and littles.

Brandon suggested to me that I wedge-chop this thing. At first I was resistant to the idea - I didn't want to chance losing the cool window latticework - but the more that I looked at vintage A-frame Der Wienerschnitzel restaurants...

That roof section shape & size really lends itself to the buggy Dave, I was thinking various panels could be tried behind that lattice, such as tinted plastic ( sorta like stained glass ) , metals, or other materials.

Love the buggy Dave. I like the top - wedge Idea , like uncertain T but even madder ! LOL For "stained glass" as Zzzlad said , I've used 'sweet wrappers' (no , not the ones with gold necklaces & silly angled caps ...ahem.. nevermind!) that have been pressed flat under a board . Plentiful & a side product of great eating ! Bonus !

I was considering doing the windows mostly in clear blue with some of the diamond shapes in the lattice painted in clear red to spell out D/W. I may just do that on the rear doors though, and just do large clear windows on the sides. Tas-Tee Freeze reportedly had their own patented design of soft serve machines that they used, and I thought that I might try to scratchbuild one, and put it in the back of the buggy. Failing that, I can just put the D/W runaway hotdog mascot captive in the rear cage, I suppose.

That looks great, especially with the Groovy Grader tires. It has the Uncertain T look, just nicer
