This evening's project! I just sold 3 of these on eBay then got my name and realised I needed one for the name I pulled out for myself: Well, aint that typical... I just got my number 2 of that kit... Its a very uncommon base for a show rod, and I have to say, I am very excited to see just HOW you will showrod it up... Bring it ooon...

A little airbrushing to start the day... I'm going for a tatty rusty look on this build, so this brown will be the first of many coats to get this where I want it.

Just messing with some weathering for this thing - it's gonna be that rarest of rarities - a real crusty nasty looking showrod. All punk rock and dirty and brash...but first, a little mild rusting as a canvas for the rest...

I'm waiting for a couple of parts and some paint to arrive for my other Name Game build, so I did some work on this dirty old Beetle today. I decided I wanted most of it to look fairly old and terrible to fit the theme, so I've been weathering parts as I go. The best way to do that convincingly is lots of washes, dry brushing, salt technique-ing and brushing on pastels and powders but it takes a long time because of all the steps - almost harder than doing a nice shiny paint job! Here's the bits I have so far though... This one is gonna take a while to do but I'm glad I have a second project on the bench for when I'm stalled on the first one. And I've got a THIRD one that I'm collecting some parts for that I'll post some pics up of soon. This is a BLAST!

Any updates??Always interested in VW-builds! I got quite a bit more done on this, yeah! I didn't wanna post too many updates on this one as it not quite a showrod...more a themed build I guess? Got the chassis completed... Then got the interior done And then started some of the bodywork and other bits that'll be hidden most of the time And this is where I'm at now... The plan was a double build of Beetles, with this kinda being the 'before' version and the second one being the showrodded version. The showrod version isn't coming on very quickly though . I'll post a thread for Bug #2 shortly though, once I've got anything done worth showing...
