Struggled with this for a while. Mostly a rebuild/save. I knew I would never have the patience to recreate the real car's paint job, so I did a cosmic paint dip version instead: The body went together simply enough, but the chassis gave the biggest headaches: Not enough guidance from the instructions, finicky and ill fitting, and dealing with two-tone chrome. And then, as I was getting ready for the final mate-up, turns out, the frame is a bit too long to fit in the body. So, some frame shortening, and it finally fit (a bunch of miss-steps along the way with that). The front end of the body also broke off more than once (oops).
Some BMF highlights. The wheels/tires are from the Ice Cream Truck. I felt they were more substantial than the kit originals (one of which was so mush-deformed as to render it unusable).
Thanks for lookin!

Like Bob said, nice build! LOVE that swirl paint.,.it doesn't look too heavy handed, which they often do! Too cool! 👍🏻

Very very nice! The paint is great, and you made a good-looking model out of a tough kit.

Thanks, guys!
The hydro dip paint was actually the easiest part of this build, even if it did take two tries. The first was a base coat of Mica Red with reds and black swirls in the bucket. The devilish swirls seemed a bit overpowering. Then, after stripping, I hit on the concept of a cosmic look, so I went with a base of Mica Blue with double dip of white/teal/deep blue. That pinkish color came from some of the red primer color leeching thru with the clear topcoat. Kind of a happy accident. I did an overspray of Dupli-color Effex for sparkle and a taped off overspray of the Mica Blue to give the panels some contrast. Then, as always, several coats of lacquer to polish up. Jim: as to some swirls being heavy handed, I use light drops of bottle Testors paint over the base color, rather than the spray can method. Keeps the layers thin enough to do the double dip and create more overlapping depth. Whew, don't think I've ever typed this much into a post before.
