Bob Johnson was the original builder in 1955 and sold it to Rodth for $1150 or $1500 depending on who you ask in late 1962. Powered by a 283 Chevy in a highly modified Model A chassis, painted Union 76 Royal Triton Purple which I mixed to OEM paint formula (in his moms garage with a vacuum cleaner!) with Lilac interior, 1956 Ford steering wheel and Roth pin striping. This is build to be circa 1958.
Roth pursued Bob to buy the car after he stripped it. Roth added the quad lights, chrome front axle parts and a Bell steering wheel. As they say the rest is history.
Interesting side note, Bob signed a contract to have the car used in the 77 SUNSET STRIP T.V. show but backed out because he would not let anyone else drive it.
