This is an original IMC Psychedelic Surf Buggy that after many years of ownership i finally built.Its a larger scale kit and a basic type build, although the melting of the spindles to hold the wheels on was a new one to me. I wanted it to have a Gelcoat look to it, so I painted it with Testor's Custom Lacquer "Star Spangled Blue" over a white base and then sprayed with a gold metalflake clear and plain clearcoat over that.The one part I was missing was the taillight lenses so I just painted the center housings red. Like many guys here who have built this kit, the wood top seems to be the biggest issue . I didn't want to cut out the old panels,and I couldn't paint the wood to look right or find any wood decals that looked right , so I played around and came up with some green foil someone sent me years ago . For some reason the kit comes with a beer keg, an oil lantern and a "Baja" hat- I didn't even know what that was, so I made a Rat Fink hat out of it. Thanks go out to Brian who traded a missing side panel to me and to Hot Wheels Bob , who took my ruined darkened set of decals and made a fantastic reproduction set !
