1960 Dodge Phoenix Convertible

Growing up we had several cars but this '60 Dodge was my favorite . Purchased new in the fall of '59 it was big , red , and a convertible ! I was only four at that time but we had the convertible for 8 or 9 years and took many cross country vacations in it , lots of great memories .
The best photo I have of the car is this one taken in front of our house in Texas . . .
I've wanted to build this for a long time and it made it to my bench earlier this year , it took eight months but it's finally finished .
To build a replica of our family car I started with a pristine JoHan kit .
After removing the roof I fit the up top from a Monogram '59 Impala , with just a little tweaking it dropped right in place . I used the interior from the '59 Impala as a starting point but completely redid the seats and side panels . The JoHan dash was modified adding a "See-Thru" speedometer and shroud , and the steering wheel was modified adding a clear rim from the AMT '62 Pontiac kit .
A chassis was built using parts from a AMT '64 Belvedere and AMT '58 Plymouth . Tires are AMT Firestone Deluxe Champions . Lots of misc bits and pieces from various kits and it's painted with factory correct Vermillion Red and cleared with TS-13 .
So here's my replica of our family convertible .
